I like historical fiction, and it looks like you have 17th-century London figured out. Of course, there's a lot of literature available from that era to help you get it right. I also see that you have good reviews from Amazon reviewers.
As I read that short excerpt, I thought there might be one more loud sound in the London streets… barking dogs. But I may be wrong. I'm sure the dogs were treated worse than women and any that were too loud were whipped for barking. To think that barbers were considered doctors in those days, adept at bleeding as a cure for many ailments. I think that's probably the source of the word, barbarous. Or maybe tacked on to hair cutters from the barbarians.
