I jumped into 'Solemnly Swear (Second Edition)' and finished it without barely putting it down. Excellent read! Having already read the first addition, the second edition added awesome details, filling in even more of the story line. In some area's, plots were extended to include additional feelings and insights into the rich characters.
'Solemnly Swear, second edition' can be a great stand-alone, but I recommend reading the first edition prior if given the opportunity.
The book has several story lines which adds to the main plot. The novel has numerous twists on almost every other page. I was enthralled, couldn't put it down. A definite thumbs-up!!!
Joe Porrazzo has a unique writing style that flows flawlessly! I have enjoyed everything I have read of his. Check him out, I believe you won't be disappointed. 'Solemnly Swear, second edition' is a 5 star book. I'm looking forward to reading additional works by Joe Porrazzo...

The return of retired USAF special investigations agent, Alex Porter, is back as a private investigator and lands mired in not one, not two, but several life-threatening situations.
Having recently relocated to Tucson, AZ. and learning to cope with the loss of his wife and daughter, Alex takes on a case based on information and special request from his best friend, Joe.
Upon beginning his investigation, Alex learns of a high cost raffle that is apparently rigged, as people are dying, not winning.
Still dealing with the loss of his family and dealing with a situation with the Vionelli mob family, Alex begins investigating the raffle matter and becomes unwillingly and unknowingly involved personally when people set out to kill him!
'Deliberate Deception' is another wonderful novel by Joe Porrazzo, This book is a definite page-turner that has the reader on the edge of their seats. There are twists and turns with every chapter.
The story is enthralling and definitely worth checking out, but I have mixed feelings regarding the ending. On the one hand, the story is left unfinished leaving the reader wanting a conclusion to wrap up any and all story lines...but, on the other hand, what an enticing, cliff-hanger leaving the reader begging for a sequel! If the cliff-hanger road is correct, then it is an amazingly brave act by Joe Porrazzo to hold his readers in suspense. I, for one, certainly can't wait for the sequel.

'Solemnly Swear' is a masterpiece at drawing you in immediately, just as you immediately find yourself relating to an "rooting" for Alex Porter, the main character. A recently retired Air Force colonial whose most loved treasure is his daughter that he is raising alone and that has carved out a great plan for her life!
Having survived past heartbreak, he witnesses an accident involving a Mafia mob boss and suddenly his life is turned upside down in a most unusual way, but through it all, his main concern is his daughter.
'Solemnly Swear' has more twist and turns then a roller coaster. There are plots and then plots, and more plots... The novel is truly a page turner that you simply cannot put down. Joe Porrazzo gives us mystery, crime, blackmail, intrigue, drama, love, hate and heartbreak. It's all there! A wonderfully well-written novel that I recommend most highly...excellent book that you shouldn't pass up!
By the way, the ending leaves us with a bit of a cliff hanger..leaving the door open for a possible sequel? How about it, Joe? I, for one, would love to read more!!!
