Such a beautiful, delicate observation of nature at work from a single photograph. Kudos!
You reminded me of the time when I climbed behind my house in West Virginia to a high point of land beyond a fence border to an ancient oak on a hilltop spared by a nearby newly completed four-lane highway. As I reached that ancient tree, it was surrounded by fallen limbs as large as trees, themselves. But, still stood regal and unbroken even after losing so many limbs.

Holly and a rose seems most powerful to me because of the simple image. This is an image that my minds eye can completely envision. I can circle, touch, smell the combined items. a symbol to clutch, a reminder that the gray light will pass.

Thank you for bringing this tragic story of the Southern pod of Orca plight to the forefront with this poignant story. I certainly hope this poem gives wider readership. I can't help wondering if all of those Orcas are being poisoned by consuming so much plastic that doesn't digestion their bellies along with the fish that they eat. At the top of the food chain, they are getting the worst of pollution. We must stop polluting our oceans if they are to survive in the wild.
Tahlequah's 17 day odyssey with her newborn shows us clearly that Orca's mourn their dead just like we do. There's no denying their intelligence.

I'm glad you're out there–doing this. I don't think cats have ever really been domesticated. A recent study mounting cameras on cats showed that they roam widely while out of the house and killed an average of two other animals a week.

Touching in its heartfelt humility. The imagery was especially pleasing, (IMO) and had a discernible spiritual fragrance. As I interpret it: an ardent heartcry to the Lakota Sioux 'Grandfather', or the Most High God of the Bible, for forgiveness, relationship, and perhaps intervention on a quickly devolving planet. "Aho" I can only interpret (but I may be wrong) as meaning 'in agreement'. Enjoyed!
