Your topics are right up my alley. I have noticed a certain type of "screaming" going on when the headlines are announced for the news. As though using that tone of voice will make the news more exciting. The same is true of the weather. All those superlatives as though the world is instantly coming apart with "wild, crazy" weather events. I can usually think back about a similar weather event that was wilder and crazier in the past. But most people don't pay much attention to history and live very much in the present with their fears and mis-beliefs.
Global warming has been sneaking up on us for over 40 years when I first discovered it in the data and in personal observation (shrinking glaciers). You're right about positive action. Banning DDT saved the raptors and child defects. Banning fluorocarbon propellants has begun to save the ozone layer. So, it's time we get cracking on clean water, feeding our population, and income inequality along with the big gorilla in the room--global warming.
