Interesting juxtaposition. With the crush of bad news from the media (not necessarily in the neighborhood) many moms have become "helicopter parents" these days. Like the poem suggests, the kids under these kinds of restraint, usually breakout when they reach an age where they can and, as if to punish their worried parents, tend to be much more wild and risk-taking than those who have, from an early age, had to fend for themselves in the real world and learned early on that risk-taking could lead to bad results.
A poem with a lesson for those that understand.
