It has a great beginning, a youth running through the forrest. What is her running from? Why can't he remember anything? Who or what is the memory thief? These things immediately keep you engaged. I kept reading because I felt compelled to unravel this mystery.
This is very well written, in that it feels as though Wilde has a lot of experience. Her descriptions were clear as well as beautiful, there was never a point where I was confused (although sometimes I wished she would explain what some of the terms - like 'zirdyn' or 'zirda' - meant when they were introduced, rather than just hoping the reader would catch on).
The world, where two groups of people, the Kelorin and Leithian, flee from their own land and take over the Turo is interesting in how it mirrors the colonization of the North and South American continents, which I doubt was a coincidence. And I love the whole viking/pirate feel of the story.
