Lyricist Roseline’s three dozen + works encompassing a broad
diversity of styles and subjects are a treat to read.
This is a book small enough to tuck into the briefcase or handbag
to be taken out for those moments spent waiting for the train to
pass, the child’s dentist to finish with the appointment or moments
of quiet refreshing at the work desk spent with a cup of tea or
coffee and a pleasant ode or two.
I enjoyed the read, Happy to recommend for all who love
poetry, for gifting and for the school and public library shelves.

There are poems that make you feel good or bad or ugly but then there is J K Roseline's book of poetry . It is of a different genre altogether . While reading the book one will be able to relate and often let loose one's imaginations , let it run through the funny clerihews to kennings and then rest on the lap of nature through the Haikus .
''A Bouquet of Roses '' is a must read for budding poets . The poems are simple and highly understandable . The poems for children are educative and enjoyable for adults too. The poems that struck a chord with my heart were '' The first downpour '' and '' All the world's a stage '' . The later having a title of the famous monologue of Jacques from ''As u like it '' by William Shakespeare . It is rewritten by beautifully blending Lady Macbeth and Christopher Columbus !! One must read it only to believe it.

It is similar to the ancient China when the males dominated the females. However, time changes everything, and now the Chinese women hold their place in a household equal to the men, because both are working individuals.
Sadly, I know in some poor provinces of India, women are still being mistreated nowadays, and even the in-laws and their husbands still have the rights to beat and torture the women from poor families. This is unacceptable in so many ways.

It is really unfortunate that the only thing that some women feel they have contributed is their love for their children. As a result, we have too many children in this world and not enough to feed them. A sad situation we must correct with all due speed. Young women like Malala Yousafzai are helping to change direction through education and understanding.

Fiction is not my forte. I took a course in in 45 years ago, and wrote of few short stories that bombed. That said, my old instructor said it is better to let the characters tell the story rather than the narrator (writer). They do it through dialogue. Too much guidance from the writer takes the reader out of the mix and doesn't let them live the story with the characters. (Movies solve this dilemma easily). Honor killings are brutal and present the caste system to the world as primitive and totally out-of-step with the rest of the world. You have softened its impact in a very loving way. You've also set up the condition for many other chapters as the new Anchal grows up and Arun and Sheetal must confront myriad other trials. You are off and running!

A valiant first attempt. You'll need some editing to correct words, spelling, and punctuation. The crow is a good device for contacting the other life. Anchal taking over Sheetal's body in a trance is not.

So glad you were able to experience the sea by swimming in it and gathering up all these nuances for your poem. Congrats on learning to swim at your age!
I received my Boy Scout merit badges at 16 for both swimming and lifesaving by merely "swimming short distances," until I took a college course in swimming at 18 and learn how to relax and do it properly so that I could swim for hours even if my skinny body couldn't float.
That knowledge allowed me to continue swimming after losing my arms and hands. My legs were still powerful and they powered me swimming both on the surface and underwater very well up to as much as two minutes without any effort to breathe. Just like in this water version of Avatar.

So sorry to hear that progress in Delhi is so contrary to the need for green. They have paved over so much of Houston that we are a hot island in the hot sun. We still pollute with natural gas, but it isn't as obvious.
Your poem deserves wider readership because it simply points out that nature knows best.
I do applaud India for trying to increase habitat, and all the greenery that is involved for the tiger and wild elephant so they will forever continue and maybe bring back, the lion.

Yes, the rivalry on the cricket yard is great enough to stop fans from celebrating Diwali. Like we, here in the United States, pause our political season for rival cities to stage the World Series. But, without the world involved, unfortunately. This time of year is also for American football with the Super Bowl only honoring American teams. We have yet to embrace the worldwide phenomenon of futball or soccer as we know it. But the sport is growing rapidly in the United States and we may compete on the world stage before long. Cricket? Such a wonderful tribute to your uncle and his wife. I have been told that arranged marriages often are the best. Primarily because both families agree to the marriage and sanction it from the very beginning. Also, the husband-and-wife are generally from the same social status, education and other factors that lead to easily understanding each other. While opposites attract, similar backgrounds make for strong, lasting relationships.
My parents also enjoyed 64 years together when my father died from an hospital infection at 84 after successful heart valve second replacement and a complementary bypass. My mother was 17 and the marriage was of love and necessity because my brother and I couldn't wait to be born.

I have been reading in National Geographic how conservationists in India are working with local farmers to increase the amount of jungle and protection for endangered species like the magnificent Bengal tiger and other species that are lesser-known but still important to the subcontinent's ecosystem.
Bringing back more jungle, creating a better environment for farming as well as funds from tourism like your Safari, will enhance India in many ways. The most obvious are to improve clean water supplies and cleaner air.
Thanks for your poem outlining the wonders of Indian jungles.

A mighty ode to the sun! In all of his qualities. Burning the bodies of young girls and aging their skin. When being shy, creating winter, and during the half day hiding behind the earth, sending in the moon to peek from behind trees into darkened windows like a voyeur.
I don't know if you've seen the ads or not for the new Disney series, Moon Knight, but you captured it nicely in the first stanza… Cool.
We have suffered a bit from the leftovers of the pandemic and financially from Putin's expensive foray into Ukraine, but all is peaceful and hard-working here, as usual.

A very unique poem blending cooking with celebration and the outcome being what blending of the races results in. A much better tasting result.
At the rate interracial marriage is happening, I believe that all of humankind will be various shades of brown for most with a few starkly not brown or any shade of it, but the few very recessive traits like red hair and green eyes, white hair and blue eyes.
Dark chocolate is the best one. Give it, not the cheap, creamy ones, to your Valentine.

I bought a can of spray that is supposed to give the user a quick tan. I called it "tan in a can." I pressed the button on top and it dribbled a very dark glob on my leg. I tried to spread it around, but it only smeared and made things worse. It would not wash off, so now I am an awful-looking piece of charcoal. Do I count as Black?

This is a nice tribute to India. I recently read a book that takes place in India in 1920 and before, when it was ruled by the firm hand of Great Britain. The country has made a lot of progress since then. You are a good cheerleader for it.

It has be written, at least 30 years ago, that India would skip the Industrial Revolution and leap from being a Third World nation into the First. In many ways, India already has with its dominance in computer technology and the Internet. Revolution in farming and initiative to go solar and wind over coal.
Here in America, Indian immigrants have risen to the highest ranks of all the professions, including CEOs of several international corporations. Including the vice president. Kudos to the Indian culture, tolerant of many religions working together and celebrating together. With no belligerent territorial claims over neighbors, but watchful of their inroads at the borders.
Unfortunately the grand parade on the Independence Day from England, shows a pal in the air. Air pollution that affects every citizen who has to breathe it every day.

I looked him up and found out that he was a famous Bollywood actor and producer of several television shows. There is always suspicion when someone dies young alone. But the stress of fame and the delicate balance that highly talented people live in their lives often leads to suicide.
By your wonderful tribute, you show that you and much of the Indian people admired him very much.

You left me wondering. First, about the "breaking" of the bangles during the honeymoon. A tradition I'm not familiar with. They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find I woman's arms, wrists and hands exquisite without decoration. But I believe, in India, the number of bangles probably stands for wealth or status in a tiered society.
At the end, you refer to the widow being "free" of the bangles, as though they were a burden through much of a married woman's life.

When times get tough, we get busy. Since He or She, doesn't seem to be around, randomly picking out people to suffer from the inability to breathe or even a very painful, but short, path to death. We don't know if our action, or our inaction, is the correct way go… Only time will tell whether we did the right thing or not. Gods will not help, I repeat. Only we can help ourselves from what little knowledge we have. We can make our lives heaven on earth. All we have to do is quit thinking that some omnipresent being is going to be there to create one for us for our lack of initiative and/or action.

A very nice religion to practice. But there is one advantage to religion of the more traditional types with their gods and goddesses, galore… Holidays! These holy days that are set aside for various religions to practice, allows the ordinary working people time off from the drudgery of their lives. India can be very proud to be part of the exploration of space. I remember in the 1970s when talking about the Third World, we often considered India to be one of those countries that would "leapfrog" into the First World via information technology, basically skipping over heavy manufacturing. Bangalore and places like that with Indians achieving greatness all over the world in education are proving that to be true.
I wish I had thought of that image portrayed by the original poem, Silver. Long ago, I learned that humans, in order to see at night, have rod cells that only see black-and-white. We see color with cone cells, that turn off in low light. Without the rod cells, we wouldn't be able to see at night at all. People that have problems with their night vision have problems with their rod cells.
Long story short, we do see at night with shades of gray, or silver, if you will. Like a black-and-white photograph. It is only when we have sufficient light to trigger our cone cells, that we see color. Reflected moonlight from the sun is insufficient for color, but sufficient for us to see in a whole different way.

The United States is experiencing a similar flooding from a hurricane in the Hawaiian Islands and floods in Wisconsin and parts of the Appalachian mountain Mideast.

While flame was destroying in our West, we were experiencing wind and flooding in our South and Southeast.
The news media gave little at to what was happening in the Asian subcontinent with one report having 240 killed in flooding across the area.

I do recall sometimes in northern Wisconsin during the summer we'd get a week of rain. Even the daytime temperature would be cool and wet. After a week or so of this relentless wet and cold, you almost couldn't take the dreariness anymore.

A beautiful tree with some strange appeal to lovers. Perhaps because they grow near the water where lovers tend to congregate to be alone and enjoy the beauty of water, land and tree. When April comes and you see the willow tree, you don't think of the insects that inhabit the tree, but of the youthful love affair that happened near it.

I love this one, and I love weeping willows. Last spring I put one out in the path of a natural spring running off the hillside, but I'm not so sure it's going to make it. The deer did their part over the summer months, causing the willow to have a difficult start. In a couple of months we should be able to determine its prognosis, that is, if the deer decide to leave it alone. Or, will my son's $50 he spent on it have been in vain. Only time holds the answer.

A lovely poem to a lovely sight this time of year. I especially like the idea of a moon fox trotting. But then, I have seen a fox trot by the light of the moon.

Thanks for the lesson in structure, form, and execution.
Nostradamus had his quatrains, but Roseline has her cinquains.
Mark Twain had his stories about life, but Roseline puts life in her stories. Now I'm out of here!
