I love realistic science fiction. Buckminster Fuller claimed that it was dangerous to write about the near future, why his predictions were 50 years off. Like you, I have been writing about what might happen in the near future. My, The Last Wanderer, is an example of a total breakdown of a highly dependent, interactive, society.
I'm glad you brought to light the Turing Test, nearly forgotten in the rush of people moving into AI these days. I recall in 1972, my doctoral advisor telling me not to title my monograph, Artificial Intelligence, with, "Intelligence is not artificial." So we changed the monograph to Intelligence and Machine.
I'm too busy to read books at present and have promised some other authors. But sometime in the future if I am reading I will want to pick up The Turing Test and your other novels, hopefully before what you are predicting in these novels, comes true.
