FWIW, the Times Picayune (New Orleans, LA - NOLA.com) is currently in the middle of a week-long series detailing how Louisiana came to be the world's prison capitol. The series is entitled, "Louisiana, INCarcerated". Part three was released today, but I missed it as I did not make it to Louisiana to buy a paper. I normally work in LA Monday-through-Friday, but today I didn't have to leave my home state, and thus will have to read the continuation of what may be the most fascinating piece I've read published in that paper in the now almost 30 years I've been a daily reader.
I recommend you check it out, as it is truly a masterpiece of journalistic feature writing.

Reminders of Panhandle Park and flights into San Francisco and Phoenix with hot and cold air conditioning. I read Spinoza in college, too. But I have forgotten everything he may have taught me in the course of time. Interesting poem that I haven't a clue as to its point except maybe the title. But I can't see how going to lost wages equates with maturity.'
