Schmuel's Journey is an eye opening thriller set in a bucolic, small college town in New Hampshire. On the surface,Henniker is a perfect place to live, but there is an undercurrent. A murder puts the community on edge, academic careers are threatened and horrors of the past become part of the present.
As the carefully constructed plot unfolds, it marries suspense and history. The pace builds slowly and keeps the reader engrossed. The characters, some deeply flawed, are complex and interesting. This is a well told, fast moving and intriguing story. Highly recommended.
