I have to guess. I can only assume that the “white coat” told you you're going to die. The enlightening rest of the story is that you haven't died and you told it so beautifully that it makes for very interesting reading, especially from a guy like me who was told by a white coat that I would be bed ridden in 1981.
Unfortunately, I haven't written so eloquently about it.
