Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, Jan. The pain has turned into promise that with faith, hope, friendship, knowledge, and love, we all can overcome any obstacle! I realize such pain is indelibly imprinted upon you, Mary, that it will always be part of who you are ... yet hope this poem is the first step in moderating its effect on your life. I see for certain that you have stepped outside the 'cycle' of abuse that haunts all of our societies and wish you the support of knowledgeable, caring friends. It is sad to know that you were abused. I hope you are through with that chapter with this poem and then move on beyond it, making sure that that kind of abuse is ended for everyone.
