Fantastic, Michael!!! Congratulations! I love that crazy cover. Love ya! Jane
The Mad Mooner (Book) - 11/27/2018 9:57:49 AM
Congratulations! I almost missed this, because when I go to the Books section it only shows me the last three submissions, but I scrolled down for some reason--intuition?--And found your first publication. That's an interesting cover, reflecting your humor. I like the description, but I think the excerpt should be a couple of the poems that got a lot of readership. I think some of them might have even gone viral like the one I sent on friends and family last week. Finally, if you got some reviews from some of the professional reviewers here on the site, you could quote them with their permission. And then later add professional reviews that you received from the book. Good luck… Ron

Well put!

Just Some Thoughts On Conservative Media (Article) - 8/6/2020 1:20:19 PM
You are right about that, they are the fake news! Name calling is not objectivity.

Just Some Thoughts On Conservative Media (Article) - 8/3/2020 11:08:05 AM
I don't follow conservative news outlets or liberal channels for that matter, but I have heard and read most of those nickname calling coming from the horse's mouth and his weeks that are republished. Name-calling is just another word playground bullying. I much prefer the more subtle, satire that you and I are very familiar with. You have to look at who owns these media outlets and what their objective is. That's why I shy away yellow journalism when I see it. Good journalism sticks to the facts and doesn't resort to name-calling when referring to public figures in the news. Ron

Just Some Thoughts On Conservative Media (Article) - 7/31/2020 1:03:29 PM
If that's the worst they do, it would be bad enough. But they do much worse, like misleading the public for a particular agenda (the promotion of Trump and its residual monetary gain) with lies, lies, lies.

Just Some Thoughts On Conservative Media (Article) - 7/31/2020 12:30:31 PM
Here! Here! I agree wholeheartedly! Rebecca

Just a thought on Trump's wall (Article) - 4/9/2019 6:19:28 AM
Well said, Michael. Keep on keeping on.

Just a thought on Trump's wall (Article) - 2/1/2019 2:57:44 PM
I believe all this talk of a WALL is just Trump's distraction from the truth that is about to be revealed by the Muller investigation. Trump is a business criminal who has stolen from working people by not paying them, he has lied to contractors he hired, cheated immigrants that worked for him at his golf courses and cut a deal with Russian Oligarchs to finance his presidential campaign. Our problems will not be solved by stopping immigrants, they are not the cause.

Just a thought on Trump's wall (Article) - 1/18/2019 7:48:04 AM
On December 14, 2018, you wrote a short article entitled, “Just a thought on abortion.” In that article you stated, “If abortion had never been legalized, I have to wonder where we would find jobs for all of those people that would have been born.” Allow me to pose the same question regarding a wall. With caravan after caravan of migrants forming in Central America, heading for the United States, how are we to find jobs for all the migrants once they arrive? Further, I live in West Virginia, the state that ranks #1 in deaths from overdosing on illegal drugs. I can name family after family that has been affected in some way—even death. You say there are far better ways of securing our border. Why not use every means possible to stop the flow of illegal drugs into this country? However, some say, “A wall is immoral.” Which is more immoral: a wall or the unnecessary and preventable death and destruction of generation after generation of our precious youth? David Lee Thompson

Just a thought on Trump's wall (Article) - 1/17/2019 9:42:04 AM
I agree fully. Makes me recall the Iron Curtain in the way that people in Eastern Europe tried so desperately to cross over into other countries, even if they weren't welcome in those countries and sometimes, thought of as communist spies. In 1956, we accepted a new girl in our eighth grade class. She came from Hungary. Ron

Just a thought on abortion (Article) - 1/9/2019 6:18:46 AM
I appreciate that you are a deep thinking man Michael but the babies who have been conceived through no choice of their own have no choice in their untimely deaths. Abortion kills the baby and emotionally damages the mother. God who made this earth and the children I believe would somehow manage a way for them to have a life. The same sort of thing happened with the Vietnam war when politicians felt the population needed to be decreased and the young people who would be competing for jobs needed their numbers thinned. I appreciated your honest thoughts even though I cannot agree with them.

Just a thought on abortion (Article) - 12/20/2018 12:37:51 PM
Human society has the ability to take care of all of us and provide all of us with good food, safe housing, health care and education. Even the disabled could be taken care of and contribute to society. But we have an outdated economic system that says none of us are valuable except the greedy rich and powerful. Abortion becomes necessary to women in a society that gives women very little help in raising children. We need to build a better world. Stop greed and excess.

Just a thought on abortion (Article) - 12/15/2018 10:49:38 AM
I agree. The woman has to bear the primary care of the child, even though some men are very good fathers and can take on nearly any task that a woman would do. I'd rather not think of jobs, but population. Unwanted children tend to be just that, unwanted. The world population is still increasing dangerously. Abortion is a legitimate tool for reducing the number of children a woman may want to have. It is very selfish to think that they should be born into poverty, disease, starvation and suffering. Finally, I am disabled and have encountered many severely disabled, at birth, young adults who after they were born were either rejected by their parents, or their parents just couldn't take care of them for all their physical needs. Most of them are on inadequate state support and suffer. They spend their lives begging for help. It would be much kinder to either correct their defects before they are born, or not allow the pregnancy to continue. Ron

Just a thought on abortion (Article) - 12/14/2018 5:32:16 PM
Your words take me to "The Georgia Guidestones". Yes, and I do believe that a woman has the power of choice over her own body. I'll leave it at that. 'Enjoyed! Love ya! Jane

Just a thought on abortion (Article) - 12/14/2018 11:48:57 AM
Good point. Nature has its own ways of curtailing the population. I believe disease, war, and famine are on the list.

Getting The Part (Poetry) - 8/27/2020 3:51:11 AM
As I recall you said this once before. But you are too witty, too charming, too funny, and too much fun to just stop. It's in your blood and in your guts and in your head and in your butt(s). Besides, you are too damned young to just up and stop. I never tire of looking at the butt crack on that ornery kid on your book cover. It reminds me again and again that there is one sane comic writer out there who knows what the hell he's doing with a pen in his hand.

Getting The Part (Poetry) - 8/26/2020 7:27:27 AM
I've been out of sync for a while. I'm sorry to see you go. Best wishes, and keep writing! Rebecca

Getting The Part (Poetry) - 8/23/2020 10:26:07 PM
Mike, how dare you leave these hallowed halls, though I certainly can't blame you, what with the prices of everything going up. It's better to eat than to spend the same money here. But Mike I will miss your humor, maybe you could pass it on to me, I'd appreciate it and I know other readers would too...take with you of mine whatever you want, you are both welcome to it, and if willing to take it, are crazier than I ever thought you were...-Ed-

Getting The Part (Poetry) - 8/20/2020 7:30:21 PM
Michael, I’m so sorry to hear you are leaving AD. Since I first discovered your postings, I have been a faithful reader. So many times after reading your poems, I would enjoy reading them a second time by reading them to my wife. By doing this time and again, you have added much laughter and enjoyment of life for two elderly people. I don’t know how well you performed in school, but having taught thirty years, I can detect that you probably did well. I also have the sensation that you were well behaved. No, Michael, I don’t think I have misjudged you. Finally, I want to thank you for all the comments you made on my postings. Unlike some, you always had something kind to say. And for that I shall be forever grateful. I have always felt that it’s just as easy to say something nice to a person as it is to say something negative. With that thought, I bid you farewell, and I certainly wish you, Michael D. Schafer, the best God has to offer.😥 Sincerely, David Lee Thompson 🐘(My favorite animal from way back.)

Getting The Part (Poetry) - 8/20/2020 1:13:07 PM
So sorry to hear that you will be leaving AD, a kind of death even if you didn't die. You and your unique humor will be missed. Perhaps it is time to "take stock" as well. The place will no longer seem the same with so many people gone. Keep well and stay well.

THe Age Of Despair (Poetry) - 8/9/2020 11:12:52 AM
Perhaps all the bullet points you've outlined as society's malady personified are but scales of justice and morals slowly descending to the bottom. When that rock bottom is reached, as they say, there is only one way to go... up. Otherwise, the scales will become so imbalanced as to become dormant and irrelevant. Such a time may be timed in such a way that AI will become more than just relevant, perhaps amassed artificial intelligence and "reason" will right the scales... at least one can hope.

THe Age Of Despair (Poetry) - 8/6/2020 9:35:22 AM
I prefer it when you write humor. We must remember that news media always reports the worst. I don't see any major meltdown. I do see inequality addressed much more strongly because it is the poorest that are bearing the brunt of the pandemic. I am not hurting at all, nor anyone I know except one writer here. It will be over, we just need to be patient, loving, helpful to those in need, and respectful of others' thoughts. The pendulum on the right has been there too long and outworn its welcome. The pendulum is destined to swing to the left for at least the next 20 years the pandemic be only a small glitch in the 21st-century compared to clean water and food needs to a growing population and evermore brutal global warming. Ron

THe Age Of Despair (Poetry) - 8/4/2020 11:28:06 AM
So true. But I have grown pessimistic about the upcoming election. I'll vote but because of the last election, and at least one other that I know of, I have serious doubts about the actual value of my vote. Hopefully my fears will be proven inconsequential. Rebecca

THe Age Of Despair (Poetry) - 8/4/2020 8:54:28 AM
You have laid it all out here loud and clear. We are living in difficult times; hopefully it will soon pass (after the election) when our friend is thrown into the trash where he belongs.

THe Age Of Despair (Poetry) - 8/4/2020 8:06:44 AM

Walk On (Poetry) - 8/2/2020 9:05:35 AM
A wonderful and clever piece of wordsmithing that is appreciated by all of us that need some levity to combat the daily surge of virus news. Thanks for posting. Again, very clever.

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/25/2020 2:08:07 AM
It seems like I remember something in the Far East massage houses they called a "wax job." It was a sensual way to get the wax blown out of your ears. I wouldn't know about such things personally. But would you be interested in such things? Probably not. Nope. Not Michael D. No way.

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/21/2020 12:47:01 PM
yeah

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/21/2020 7:40:09 AM
Funny Michael😆. Hope your ears are clean now.

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/19/2020 9:51:01 AM
You need to quit having those bees flying in your ears and going to work. Who wants dripping honey running out of your ears, anyway? Happened to me when I was 18 and had a cold. Went to the local clinic for college students, and the doctor washed my ears out with soap. He told me to come back in another 18 years. Couldn't believe what I heard and hadn't for some time as I walked out of that clinic and onto the street. Ron

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/18/2020 8:04:55 AM
I have my ears cleared of wax professionally every ten years or so. It's a very uplifting (up-hearing) experience!

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/17/2020 4:13:06 PM
hahaha a typical Schafer! Had fun with this one!

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/17/2020 3:23:54 PM
Oh boy! Having undergone the same experience, I CAN relate. How refreshing to make a poetic experience out of the humdrum...wait a minute!...scratch that. I meant 'eardrum'. Or, perhaps if it really were permanent hearing loss: "Hear today, gone tomorrow?" Or mebbe, "Lizzie Bordon took her wax and gave her eardrum forty whacks..." Naw. Perhaps add an 'anvil chorus' to it, as well, just to 'stirrup' things... OK, it's a hot day here. I think it's addled my senses a tad, so I'll leave off here with a salute to your auricular acumen and leave it at that... -K2

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/17/2020 2:07:55 PM
Funny! I thought I had a wax buildup in my left ear which also developed a ringing noise. So I thought I had blockage. The doctor check them and said that my hearing went down a notch or two. Nothing too serious but what R U going to do? So, when chores are too tough to do, I now use my selective hearing to my advantage. and I have a doctor to back me up too! LOL!

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/17/2020 12:29:15 PM
Oh, clear that earwax off, willya? Heeheehee!!! Sandie :)

Huh? (Poetry) - 7/17/2020 12:12:12 PM

Reykjavik (Poetry) - 7/11/2020 12:00:57 PM
Love the double meaning. I find I can pronounce Reykjavík quite well. But I do have problems with some words. I find that I'm writing unpronounceable names for my characters and some of my books. Gotta cut that out. Ron

Reykjavik (Poetry) - 7/11/2020 9:23:52 AM

Peter Perfect (Poetry) - 7/6/2020 11:01:47 AM
I just checked, and Peter is not perfect. Close, but no cigar. But even though Peter is not perfect, he works very well. How well he works, I will not tell. Thanks for telling me why Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers so perfectly, every time over and over again. What a joy! Perfection. Ron

Peter Perfect (Poetry) - 7/6/2020 9:06:40 AM
I think Peter Perfect must have written this poem, because it is perfect, oh so perfect. I wish I were so perfect. Enjoyed as always, Michael. Well done.

Party Hardy (Poetry) - 6/27/2020 6:00:53 AM
There is nothing worse than a drunk, but a funny drunk like this one can be endearing. Perhaps that's why he was invited.

Whew!! Very descriptive! Good writing..I felt it.

Party Hardy (Poetry) - 6/26/2020 2:58:41 PM

The Drill (Poetry) - 6/23/2020 10:50:52 AM
Handymen are those who don't know how to do things very well, so they do everything. Only you can take the boring drill and turn it into star poetry. Kudos for your wordsmithing on this one. Ron

The Drill (Poetry) - 6/22/2020 11:21:41 AM

Happy Mother's Day 2020 (Poetry) - 6/12/2020 7:31:48 PM
You had me from the first line all the way down to the next to last line. And then you upset the apple cart right in my lap. So, in what year did your wife give birth to a cell phone? Inquiring minds want to know...

Happy Mother's Day 2020 (Poetry) - 6/8/2020 9:29:04 AM
Cell phone jokes aside, I found that this time, when trying to express your love for someone clearly "takes care of" you, you all of a sudden lost your sense of humor in all seriousness and also your sense of rhyme. I would suggest that next Mother's Day, you blow her sandals off with a rhyming humerus ditty that speaks to her love of you unconditionally. Ron

Happy Mother's Day 2020 (Poetry) - 6/7/2020 11:57:39 PM

YES! I actually do know of someone like this, she'd start to talk and not stop for an hour or more & she'd make it look like it was someone else's fault when she was asked to stop running her mouth...I won't say who this other one might be, suffice to say she is blond and she and I talk a great deal to each other...-e-

Claudia Chatterbox (Poetry) - 5/13/2020 8:42:56 AM
Not only were you funny with this one, you brought out a truth. I believe that chatterboxes usually have a rather low self-esteem and find themselves talking all the time in order to keep others from interjecting better comments than they make. I also learned in graduate school, that in small groups, the people that talk the most usually are given the leadership role--reminds me of Donald Trump. David Thompson's examples of two of his students is right on. I found that these talker leaders tend to be poor leaders. Two examples: One time a director who I thought may have been on cocaine, he was so paranoid, called me to berate me for something that I had no control over. I left my phone on speaker so that he could be heard out in the hall and went to the health center to have my urine bag emptied. Fifteen minutes later, when I came back and smiled at the secretary who had to listen to him go on and on, he was still talking, not knowing that I had left the phone for so long. When he blew up on the Executive Director like he had done many others, he was fired and escorted from campus by police. A couple of nights ago, my partner's best friend from long ago who calls often from Australia after losing her family's savings and is deeply in debt from two very bad business deals, called again and talked rapidfire for over a half hour with my partner every once in a while, interjecting, "a huh," to let her know that she was still listening. If talk could get around of the serious financial problem, she would have easily solved it. ;-) Ron

Claudia Chatterbox (Poetry) - 5/12/2020 12:32:24 PM
LOL!!! This reminds me of one of the Chinese actors/producers, Stephen Chow's movies in which he has an argument competition with a pimp woman who ran a house of prostitutes. The two of them barf out words so fast from their mouths to argue with one another and in the end, Stephen won. That pimp woman was exhausted after hours of argument. Stephen Chow is a Chinese comedy actor. He wrote, produced, and acted in all his own movies. One of his best was "Shaolin Soccer". Sandie

Claudia Chatterbox (Poetry) - 5/11/2020 9:05:53 PM
Having taught school, I crossed paths with quite a few Claudia Chatterboxes during my career. But there are quite a few Charlie Chatterboxes out there, too. I can recall two in particular—a Claudia and a Charlie. I couldn’t teach because of them. During class discussions, they dominated. Neither of the two were mean in any way. They just liked to talk. Wouldn’t you know that Claudia became a teacher, and Charlie . . . well, he’s a minister. Sorry, Michael. I got sidetracked. Your poem took me down memory lane for a while. You did another great job with this one. David

My Mistake (Poetry) - 5/3/2020 1:32:13 PM
A unique way of expressing all of those "adages," Michael. Well done as usual in your witty way with words (how is that for alliteration?). Love and peace to you, Regis. 🍁

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/30/2020 1:34:23 PM
Wow! Are we a little negative today?

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/28/2020 11:41:06 AM
What a fun poem! Thx for the post.

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/23/2020 9:59:46 AM
And to make it worse, if I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all. But I don't know shit from Shinola. According to bumper stickers, "**it happens!" You just wrote the story of my life. So glad we are traveling in the same groove! And it looks like you got your muse back with this very creative and funny rhyme of old sayings. Ron

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/21/2020 10:18:10 AM
"I’m going nowhere fast. But we got to make each moment last!" Now I can't explain that except it kinda sounds good. Right now, "I got a hankering for something but life is just a bowl of cherries, so we might as well______. Fill in the blank. You got me going Michael... But like I said,"I’m going nowhere fast. But we got to make each moment last!" I really this time-out away from this reality nonsense! Thank you for the break! LOL John Michael

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/20/2020 8:49:45 PM
When there's nowhere to go but down it's best to let sleeping dogs lie And just lay down and sleep along with them. Enjoyed this forward-moving rhythmic and true-to-life comment on life. Enjoyed as always, perhaps more during these times. Thanks, Michael.

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/20/2020 3:20:50 PM
Love it. Great display of clichés, adages, and whatever else you want to call them. Very clever.

My Mistake (Poetry) - 4/20/2020 9:09:31 AM
Doesn't life just suck sometimes? I know I've felt this way more often than I care to remember but I always recover and carry on. Life's too short to do otherwise. Rebecca

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 4/19/2020 4:42:06 PM
Funny, now the people who had hoarded the hand sanitizer and the toilet paper trying to return the items but were refused. They didn't see that coming, didn't they? Wait 'til they try to pay the visa bills and found out the government is only giving them $1200.00/mth stimulus check, which they expect them to pay rent/mortgage, pay bills, buy gas, and put food on the table! Yup! Those people who hoarded everything didn't see this coming and now they have to pay interest on their visa bills for the toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Sandie

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/18/2020 12:17:28 PM
Funny wordplay! Reminds me of someone I know...

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/17/2020 2:36:04 PM
You wrote a poem about me. Thank you.

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/10/2020 3:59:41 AM
Michael: I have always been a "piss, I missed" by nature. I somehow always manage to imagine the worse case scenario and to my chagrin, things have never turned out that way. "No it all" fer shure. I'm a real Nowhere Maaaaaaann, livin' here in La-La Land. Thank you so much for taking a peek at my tripe -- I cain't tell yuh how much I appreciate it .... Best, Drugstore Cowboy

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/9/2020 10:32:11 AM
Seems like every step he takes, snags a trip and a fall. But our show show-man-in-chief stays forever optimistic, telling us that will be all over in the fall, after he fell. Ron

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/8/2020 3:56:11 PM
I know the kind of person you described. Sandie

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/8/2020 9:03:06 AM
You nailed it. Some people are so negative they have a nose for no's.

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/7/2020 10:27:28 PM
Clever, funny, upbeat, just what we need from a pessimist. You are right, Michael, we do need a little bit of mirth and thanks for providing it. Now, how about a mirror poem, "The Optimist".

The Pessimist (Poetry) - 4/7/2020 12:55:51 PM
Yes, this too shall pass. Meanwhile we wait... Screw the news, it brings on the blues... It's a BIG pain in the arse! It's bike riding time...so it can't be too bad. When this is over, a cruise ship will be the SAFEST vacation of all. Be well Michael! John Michael

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 4/2/2020 10:41:11 AM
I love the last stanza. it perfectly summarizes our new topsy turvy lives.

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 3/28/2020 9:09:08 AM
Only you could do it. Not a belly laugh but a good chuckle. That's good enough. Thanks.

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 3/25/2020 8:56:40 AM
I wonder how Corona beer is doing. Idiots probably think that it's somehow related to the virus. Thanks for coping my title. I enjoy it when you do that. A lot of nice innuendo and into this one. Very creative and lighthearted and a time like this. Ron

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 3/22/2020 5:07:00 PM
Thanks Michael for your sense of humor to lighten a mostly humorousness time,

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 3/21/2020 11:28:02 PM
Thanks, Michael. You are so right. A little humor does go a long way. After watch the news everyday with panic rising into my throat with all the horrible details, I was able to relax and simply laugh at your melodic poke at this terrible virus. May it disappear back into the beer.

Corona Corona (Poetry) - 3/21/2020 10:47:36 PM
Yes, let's have a beer mate! Nice work Michael. Well done1

Better flying fish, than frying fish. They are excellent swimmers, but I believe they fly to escape predator fish that come up into their schools and eat large quantities of them. Flying fish forever! Ron

Fred the Flying Fish (Poetry) - 2/18/2020 11:24:10 PM
Ah that Fred, gotta love him. LoL

Fred the Flying Fish (Poetry) - 2/18/2020 3:31:22 AM
Always with that characteristic twist at the end, just to add to the ongoing humor. Another gem, Michael. Keep them coming.

Fred the Flying Fish (Poetry) - 2/17/2020 3:51:17 PM
Delightful, Michael. Hopefully, many children (and adults as well) will get to read this. Love and peace to you, Regis. 🍁

Golden Years My Ass (Poetry) - 2/11/2020 9:47:59 AM
Just so you're not becoming a dirty old man. Is writing the word, "ass," dirty? Only if not wiped. Back to your poem. From my recollection, comics like George Burns and Bob Hope die laughing at a ripe old age, with young girls hanging around keeping their joints well oiled and their libidos high. You're in the right profession like Samuel Clemens and and you too could hit it big after age 69. Ron

Golden Years My Ass (Poetry) - 2/10/2020 9:02:56 AM
Michael, what are the chances of you writing a poem about all the things going wrong with me? You should see the list of ailments they have on me at the VA. They even have a few things written down that I’m not having a problem with. I guess they think I’m gonna get it sooner or later anyway.

Golden Years My Ass (Poetry) - 2/8/2020 9:55:36 PM
That about sums it up, Michael, in your inimitable way. . . , more like the bronze rather than the golden years.

Golden Years My Ass (Poetry) - 2/8/2020 3:59:51 PM
I'll go to heaven, thanks! Very funny!

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 2/6/2020 9:47:50 AM
Cute. You've mentioned everything I hate about the over-sized hardware stores, except for the paint spinner that spins the wrong shade.

F-R-O-G Jam (Poetry) - 2/6/2020 9:30:59 AM
I love this! This would make a great jingle for a product. I just don't know what product frogs could make.

F-R-O-G Jam (Poetry) - 2/6/2020 2:42:01 AM
Great poem! I have heard of frogs and frog legs, but have never heard of frog jam until now. :) Sandie :)

F-R-O-G Jam (Poetry) - 2/4/2020 10:40:08 AM
Thanks for the nutritional tidbit. It seems like I'm getting them faster and faster, like the Internet, several times a day now. Making it hard to figure out what to eat. Personally I like frog legs (not the whole frog) fried in butter. Unfortunately, I have to dismember the frog in order to do that. But have you tried toe jam? I understand that it's quite tasty. Just like Popeye when he asked the question: Did you pick your feet in Poughkeepsie? A good prison food supplement. Ron

F-R-O-G Jam (Poetry) - 2/3/2020 8:58:21 PM
Perhaps the French should take up the lesson from this and not serve up all those frogs' legs. The frog jam sounds so much tastier.

F-R-O-G Jam (Poetry) - 2/3/2020 2:44:18 PM
Great one, as usual. I would even like a little of that F-R-O-G Jam. I’m sure it would work well with a warm biscuit and lots of butter. Here in the hills, it would even go well with a piece if cornbread. Throw a big piece of sausage on that buttered biscuit, along with F-R-O-G Jam or the same with cornbread, and you have a tasty treat.

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 1/30/2020 10:25:20 AM
I would like you to show me where I can find Piper Wrench's toolbox. Would like to dive a little deeper into that! You sure know how to get into home improvement the funny way. Especially with all that "tooling" around. Loved every word of it. Ron

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 1/28/2020 6:49:20 PM

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 1/28/2020 10:36:12 AM
This is so much better than I could ever attempt to write. Loved it, Michael. One of your best. Keep them coming. There’s still a lot of stuff out there you can play around with. After all, Webster’s Dictionary s a pretty large book.

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 1/28/2020 3:18:20 AM
A man and his tool is nobody's fool, especially if he measures it with a 40 ft retractable tape measure. (Sorry, Michael, that's the best I can do these days).

Tooling Around (Poetry) - 1/27/2020 8:54:56 PM
Another classic humor poem to uplift our spirits. Inventive and funny as always. There seems to be no end to what you have hiding in your tool kit. Thanks at this early hour.

The Master Poet (Poetry) - 1/17/2020 10:37:19 AM
I'm sorry, but I had to laugh as I read this. For someone trying to depend on poetry like very few have down through history, I can see the irony of having nothing to eat but your own words. And coming up with that "vowel" disease was a stroke of genius. Keep pulling these gems out of your rabbit's hat of magic. Ron

The Master Poet (Poetry) - 1/15/2020 3:08:53 PM

I Ripped My Pants (Poetry) - 12/19/2019 12:39:03 PM
Not your usual but a joy to read. I'm sure that Trinity loves it and will keep a copy around for a long time. I know how embarrassing it can be. I love to recount the day my twin brother and I came in from first grade recess to take off our snow pants and place them on hooks in the hall. We forgot that it was the first warm day and we hadn't worn snow pants. It wasn't the air on our bare legs that informed us, but our teacher telling us to, "Pull your pants up!" to all the girls and boys in the hall! Thankfully, our mother always provided us with clean white underwear… Ron

Holiday Stress (It's hard to be good at Christmas) (Poetry) - 12/11/2019 11:47:42 PM
Hey Michael, I recall the excitement of Christmas of looking at all the neatly wrapped presents under the tree. I wondered what was inside each one. It was a fantastic feeling as I opened each surprise that was intended for me. Now my excitement is spent at home decorating the front yard for others to see. My hope is to bring a smile to a family or a young child when they see the lights all glowing at night. Perhaps they are smiling and thinking, "These Christmas lights are glowing bright and colors are flickering in the dark especially for me!" Merry Christmas to you and yours! PS: A family across my street thanked me for putting up the light display. They said it cheered them up. That alone, made my day! Nice poem!

If I Could Sing (Poetry) - 12/9/2019 4:58:47 PM
I'm sure your singing voice is as good as your poet's voice.

If I Could Sing (Poetry) - 12/9/2019 11:20:35 AM
Sounds like you need to get your pipes either cleaned or reamed. But that's no guarantee, because long ago, I discovered the source of a good singer… Buck teeth. If you don't have a natural born overbite, forget singing. The classical example of this is Dion Warwick. I remember when she first came on America's Bandstand. I did a little search and can't find a single picture of how she looked before she got her teeth fixed. She may have paid money to have the Internet scoured and stripped of any pictures of her before. My greatest singing triumph came last year after doing a little karaoke at an assisted living home, I was asked to do an encore performance of Sweet Caroline. Ron

If I Could Sing (Poetry) - 12/8/2019 10:10:12 PM
A singer, I am not although I'd like to be. My dad sounded like a Dean Martin so what happened to me? So I can relate, my friend. But give me a hard time and I'll threaten to sing again. Nice poem!

If I Could Sing (Poetry) - 12/8/2019 4:46:17 PM

Just Tits (Poetry) - 11/6/2019 4:25:46 AM
"Twinabagos?" That's a new one! Try saying that 10 times really fast! I sometimes think that men have huge advantages over women when it comes to enjoying all the fruits of the opposite sex. Women are soft and curvy and can really doll themselves up. Men are generally pretty raw and get by with a splash of after shave to hide extreme gross odors. There is just no comparison. We got the better deal! Another great poem that helps us express how we really feel! LOL

Just Tits (Poetry) - 11/3/2019 12:09:11 PM
Another one of your most creative creations. As I read, I remembered one name that you missed, but I forgot It by the time I finished reading… Dammit! Now I remember… Fried Eggs. But nobody wants those, so that's probably why you didn't include them. I only have one question. Can you tell me what a Tat is? I want to give a Tit for it, whatever a tat is. Ron

A Flow Of Consciousness (Poetry) - 10/16/2019 9:37:25 AM
I hope it is not as bad for children in school today as your granddaughter writes. There's always been a slice of this going back to the 1950s when I was in grade school and in one room school houses where settlers, newly arrived, set up housekeeping across our great land. But we were not afraid to go to school, and most kids were not afraid to go home for what was happening there, even though we were living in what was considered a "bad" neighborhood. I think that the media, emphasizing the worst at unheard-of speed, telling us almost instantly what is happening everywhere, all the time, is particularly affecting young people who have not realized that what is offered through the news (perhaps why conservatives call it, fake) is also only a small slice of life in general, that is very good. Your granddaughter has a dark mind and stream of consciousness. Good for advocacy to do something about gun violence and diagnosing and treating mental illness. Your granddaughter writes scary, but good, stuff. Her novels will become TV shows. Ron

She experienced frighting experiences from the heart of a child while rationalizing the senselessness of it all, just like a good parent. Her ability to express it well on paper is enormous! Trinity could write a short poetry book today with a title like, "If One Child Could Poetically Change the World, I Could!" or "A Worldly Perspective that Needs to Change. Poetically yours, from Trinity, A Fifth Grader." I'm sure she can think of a better title. I for one, would definitely buy her book! Well done Trinity! John Michael Domino

It's certainly obvious your granddaughter is very aware. I had to read this twice. Her honest heart-rending insights were quite moving. She's a natural. Tell her to keep writing. r

A look into the reality in how it feels inside a young one's heart. This needs to be made aware of and be read by both the adults and the teenagers. Good parenting means to be able to understand how it feels to be teenagers and see through their eyes. Sandie

Tried both viagra & cialis, but neither worked, so don't let the doctors work on your prostate, lest no more HARD days will you ever have...:) -e-

Don't let Viagra steal this verse. It's worth a million bucks. And other rhyming words.

Jack and Clara certainly live life on the edge. This one is a cut above! Your use of words that have two disparate meanings, yet can be read both ways in the poem is simply amazing. All I can say is your muse never seems to let you down when it comes to creating very unique, funny and enduring poems like this. Why I'm so glad you have put out a book of poetry for others to cherish in the future. And, be sure to include this sharp ditty in the next. Ron
