Apocalyptic literature is a tease to tempt our shrug and 'give up' moments. It is the obverse of the messianic coin in which we know all the answers and have the power to change the world - good over evil, etc. ... we don't want to live within the poles where living is done so we opt for a fiery end, a phoenix rebirth. Scripture from the Book of the Dead to Hunger Games ... One might wish for solutions which exercised our powers of persuasion, creativity and cooperation, but they seem too hard, too complex or not vengeful enough, I imagine. Nice posting ...
