There is always a danger when writing about near future that one will be way off. From the brief sketch that you given here, appear to be writing in apocalyptic future where the United States has fallen into an epidemic (?) of cannibalism. Human history is filled with historical examples of people, while starving, eating the dead. Whether or not there have been cannibalistic tribes eating humans as a primary source of protein is questionable.
But, if you are just writing escapism like so much in books, television and movies these days, can write anything you want and it can be highly successful. After all, some of the greatest science fiction writers were way off about the future like H. G. Wells and George Orwell to name only two. I have written about the near future and have been right about some things and wrong about others. The danger in playing the future game.

This excerpt is not as informative or exciting as the one for the previous novel in this series. But I understand that a couple of chapters can be obtained by locating the Kindle version and taking a look inside at Amazon.
I'm not fond of Amazon for their monopolizing everything, so perhaps a couple of chapters here and another outlet for your sales might be attractive to people like me.
