The poem certainly describes mental thoughts that are obsessive and especially persistently negative. This leads me to believe that there was some deception in the relationship that brings out these fears.
Writing the poem only accentuates the severity of the problem. Through experience, I've learned that it's best to let someone go… completely… and not look back, but move forward. If there's any love in the relationship it will reappear without pleading.

The presentation is so dense and repetitious that it becomes a bit hard to read. Songs (often unfortunately too much) tend to be repetitious, so that's okay unless it becomes annoying to the reader or listener.
But, I believe that love is largely luck when when two people get together and magic happens. I too, have experienced the beauty of the bluebonnets in April. All the more beautiful when your love can be with you as you have that experience.
