Thank you for enlightening me on St. Valentine, working for good at a time when marriage was banned by a ruthless Roman Emperor. In the story of The House That Love Built. I'm sure there are many stories like that throughout the American existence. I recall after watching the recent movie about PT Barnum that he restored an old mansion that he and his sweetheart played in when they were children and it was run down. An historic house is more exciting and there is a love story attached to it.
Coincidentally, when I was a member of the World Future Society, I befriended their vice president for membership, Frank Snowden Hopkins. While attending an AAAS meeting in Washington DC, Frank, a widower, graciously offered me a spare bedroom for the week. On the mantle was a picture of his grandfather, Stephen Hopkins. Frank said that when his grandfather aged, he took care of him until he died. What was unique about that picture was the granddaughter sitting on his knee, Katharine Hepburn.

I don't have any children, but some great points. I remember my mother giving me a few childhood books that I nearly memorized. And going to the library and first grade gobbling up all the books by Dr. Seuss.
But I never read at home because I had so many other things to do. We always played games during free time that I was never alone with a twin brother. I tended only to read the wonderful classics that I was assigned during my English classes. My brother read far more than I did and was a better writer when we started out writing short stories.
I'm sure this article will help parents of young children get started on a healthy reading habit.

What a wonderful article covering just about everything about pockets that I didn't know. I do know that much of history was written about rulers and the elite of society. They didn't need any devices for carrying "stuff." They had slaves or servants to do that for them. I read once that Nelson Rockefeller, 41st VP, never carried any money.
I am fascinated by the Iceman and he is the subject of my first chapter in my first novel. My latest novel is about his grandson who has a Eurasian horse to carry much of his stuff. But I have wondered a great deal what he wore and what he carried, even with a companion with such carrying capacity.
I remember when I carried coins in my pocket just to feel them in my hand and jingle them. And then, there came a time, in the 1980s where my hands were to paralyzed to handle coins In my billfold coin pocket and I never carried them again, often saying to clerks, "keep the change."

A very interesting piece...interestingly..
Cell phones started out large...thankfully
became smaller, and now are increasing in
size again!...but slimmer which means they can
slip into a pocket...
However men are often heard asking their
partners/wives/girlfriends...”can I put this in your bag?”...
so perhaps even more thought should be given to men’s
clothes to accommodate this...and stop women’s bags
being weighted down...!
