After I quit laughing, I realized that we have become so dependent on all these technologies that going back and attempting to use older technologies to do what we do becomes laughable.
All of those elderly writers with convenient amnesia who want to go back to a simpler life need to read this because I think they would find in a couple of days that it wasn't camping out and they would desperately like to get back to the present.

This truly is an interesting tale, and I would encourage you to continue to write it. I also would encourage you to team up with someone with a good knowledge of Western history so that you do not veer far from the truth of the matter like a 1950s singing cowboy picture.
You would need to describe in more detail how, in the face of winter in Colorado, Ezekiel could build a log cabin. Perhaps he was able to, struggling with cold and snow, to build a small shelter (more like a doghouse) into the side of a hill or small cave. Log cabins were difficult to build if you only had an ax and took months to build if you had a saw. There are no green valleys in Colorado in the wintertime.

I like this. A true story of the old West. You seem to be leaving a lot out as you jump from scene to scene. For example, you have Ezekiel bed ridden in Pennsylvania, and then the next line you have him loading a wagon in St. Louis. What are his wounds? What does it take to get him on the bed and up and around again? By her interaction with him, caring for him and getting him to the point where he can carry out his dreams, you can develop Martha's character more. Also there's a lot missing on the wagon train. I would have him having two wagons, one for his personal use and household goods, and another for the supplies for a general store. How does he interact with the Indians?
