I'd love to read a story other than your book promotion. Some authors place chapters here of their books as partial stories of their novels.
Murder mysteries are not one of the genres I like to read. However, I'll read anything that's very good.

I'm not interested in crime stories, ghost stories, fantasy or mysteries like games of "clue," so I skipped over those suggestions. I'm not saying that those kinds of stories are not wildly popular, because they are, it is just that I'm more interested in more serious subjects and less concerned with passing time with "pastimes."
Is unfair to only compare Amazon and Lulu. I have several books at Amazon for several years and have not been charged storage, so I don't know the source of your claim. According to my publisher, Angela Hoy, of Booklocker.com, who saved POD publishing for Lulu and the others when Amazon tried to take over all of POD publishing by suing Amazon and winning, Lulu is one of the more expensive and notoriously "up selling" of POD providers.
One thing that you failed to mention except tangentially, is that even successful writers struggled for years before they made any money with their writing. As a writer, you have to make a name for yourself before anyone will take your writing seriously. Putting together a single book will generally not make money unless it is heavily promoted by some organization or required by some group to be purchased like textbooks. One kind of book that sells is a book that shows people how to get rich quick for a book that tell someone how to lose weight quick. Flimflam sells better than good hard fiction. Poetry doesn't sell at all.
My advice to new writers? Write for the fun of it and the thrill of it. Do not stop writing if you are criticized. And finally, don't ever expect to make any money with your writing.

I can relate to this. Yes, relationships often get in the way of the best friendships. Live for yourself! If something happens, it happens; if not, you're no less a person than anyone else. No person is greater than another.

A paradise we should have left as it was. The effects of Agent Orange and napalm as well as unexploded ordinance still plague those rice fields of paradise long after those brave soldiers have long gone.
