Did you interview Shostak? I was fortunate to meet Jill Tarter both last year and this at the 100 Year Starship Symposium. In my first novel in 1999, I explain why it is really not necessary to spend so much money and time listening to the universe for signs of intelligence. In the yearly years, Frank Drake found some exciting signals that turned out to be nothing more than normal. Since then, for all the effort employed around the world, nothing has turned up except spinoff science like our space effort has produced.

There are lots of aliens. I would venture to guess that about 20% of Houston residents are aliens… Some of them illegal. ;-)
Intelligent life from other stars here on a visit? Now that's another story.

The question is, is it aliens or alien's. The answer is, rehashed hog wash from Chariots of the Gods and bits and pieces from the History Channel about the rumors and speculations based on objects and eyewitness accounts written down by the minds of creative men (and women).
I swear that cockroach that flew at me the other day was an alien because it had such intelligence to fly at me like that. I guess I shouldn't have killed him because he probably had the keys to another dimension.
