BBM for Android and iPhone Update (Short Story) - 10/4/2013 5:20:57 AM
First, let me welcome you to Author's Den. You have posted an article by Luke Riemer (not you) in the stories section (why not the articles section?).
Both your intro and Riemer's blog don't tell us what BBM means. After some searching, I'm beginning to think it means BlackBerry media.
I bought my helper the very first iPad. She's now on our third iPad and had the very first iPod as well as an iPhone. She doesn't know what an app is and has never even downloaded an app for a single iTune. And she's not stupid. She has her brother do those “techie” things. I can't use those devices. My hands are paralyzed and my fingers don't manipulate keys or touchscreens well.
For your information, an app is an abbreviation of “application.” When Apple first hired Microsoft to provide programs for the first Apple computers, probably to avoid copyright problems, they renamed everything, so computer programs became “applications.” Hence, in techie lingo, apps.
I have always lauded Apple for taking the techno geek (computer wizard) out of computing. But there's still a certain mystique about how these wonderful easily used applications are developed. It would be great if you would write about that. As for BlackBerry, I've always considered it to be a rich man toy. It would be nice if you would tell us how BBM on android or iPhone will make any difference to our already stressed lives constantly tied to our cell phones. By the way, I don't have a cell phone and don't have a real need for one.
