Now that was a very funny and creative song/poem. And I know the feeling…
When I was evaluated to drive again, I was forced to buy a "new" 98 Ford Windstar van that could be modified for wheelchair driving. Before that, I had only bought used two door muscle cars because I was mostly single and wanted to get down the road with the best of them.
Anyway, my Windstar was highly modified with costly electronics for driving and served me well for 95,000 miles until repairing the modifications--not the van--became too much and I had to buy a "new" 2006 Ford Freestar. The Windstar had been banged up a few times but had been well repaired and was running very well until two weeks before I was to pick up the new van with all of its costly modifications. On the way to work my throttle stuck (a bicycle style cable that wore, always caused trouble and was constantly changed). I used the brakes too much to slow down and they faded at my last stop and I ran into the back of an Expedition. The Windstar was still running so I decided to repair it and give it to a local independent living relocation nonprofit for the disabled. After $10,000 and much dismay, the van was back to its old self, I thought. The nonprofit sold my van to a secretary in a wheelchair. She could not afford to keep the van up, so I had to make several repairs on it so she could keep driving. Maria called the van, "My Baby." The latest I learned was that the van was no longer operable and that she was no longer working there.
I hope you get a new car for Christmas!
