I am not sure who you are referring to as "he" in this story. I might assume that it is the Prime Minister or someone given authority to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus.
To blame the Coronavirus on those responsible for containing it is irresponsible. The Coronavirus is highly contagious and spreads because of the actions of the individuals who have it and then pass it on either by putting the virus on services that others touch, or, more likely breathing it out in the presence of others who are unprotected both by their ignorance and their stubbornness to listen to authorities on how to avoid being infected.
You may have written great irony into this story are not. I can't tell.

One way to ruin a romance is to get your buddies involved. I was shocked literarily, not actually, by Ed, who was not anonymous anymore, declaring that this new amor was a "wench?" I didn't think that they qualified as good long-term wives or lovers. Just more of the same one night stands with bar crawlers who were palpable for one night only. Only the lonely.

Reads like a true story. And even the dream that makes the ending horrific.
Reminds me of the time a tenant in my house didn't pay his rent. Rather than just throw him out, I took him to court and he actually came to defend himself.
When the judge asked him, "Why haven't you paid your rent?"
He replied, "Judge, I have fallen on hard times." (Nice ironic cliché there)
"That's no excuse for not paying your rent. Mr. Hull. Do you want him to pay what he owes you and rent? Did you file for it?"
"No, I just want him out." Had a feeling it would be like getting blood from a stone. (Another cliché)
But he wasn't belligerent like that deadbeat across the street. In fact, the same thing with the woman in the pilferer I had to kick out earlier for not paying rent.

I kept waiting for something unexpected to happen and it didn't. So you left me with thinking that something may happen in the future.
In my young, traveling, single days I quite often ran into glib women who took a liking to me and invited me into their homes. As it turned out, a few times there was a young woman there that was an attractive to men for one reason or another. I was picked up to see if I might be a possible match since I didn't fit in, either.
In those days I always found Sunday afternoons to be the worst. Nobody did do anything with. But there were many nights on weekends in strange cities where I just wandered around to see what I would find without any tour guide showing the way. Never met a woman that way.

Gives one cause to think about when one leaves a restaurant meeting of no consequence. As I recall European meetings of spooks, they were generally leave the meeting alone and once on the sidewalk, pause to light a cigarette (like James Bond) and then, go on their way.
In the United States when one is a potential target, one does not dwell outside buildings because in the 1930s up until today, it would invite a drive-by shooting where the killers could kill quickly and get away because they were moving already.

I never heard of a painting that walked out on its museum. But it was a nice thought, accompanied by appropriate conversation. The thought about sleeping together with no hands would be easy with a painting more difficult with an art connoisseur. Well done.

This is a fairytale if I ever read one! Zenia, while possessing some qualities as an artist, dreamed of much more. So she plagiarized a best-selling novel and somehow got readers believe that it was her book.
And then that book, became a bestseller. With her fame, she attracted suitors and I lost interest in writing any more books. Her publisher then suggested that he get a ghostwriter to write her books for her. And then this fellow would marry her and have her children, provide her with an income so she can pursue her dreams without any encumberment at all.
Zenia reads like what we call in the United States a "Jewish Princess." You forgot to write, "And she (not they) lived happily ever after."

I like this story for it's very appropriate title and it's being short and sweet. The sweet part is Goren, through the eyes of others, a young colleague of enterprising nature who gave him a boost and the museum manager who valued Goren's single work on its merit, alone.
For many writers and artists is a long hard journey to reach the recognition needed, often because one cannot advertise and/or promote their work well when not making any money doing it. But there are exceptions when a first novel becomes a bestseller or a single work of art becomes famous.
Suddenly, Goren becomes aware that his work is valued and he now has an incentive to create more.
This story is in an anthology, it may be the one that gives you the shortcut to fame.

Interesting, but certainly what men do. Most often married man, but they certainly will pick on unmarried to try to get them to date someone like the pretty waitress. The story does need some editing to make it clearer. For example, Gad… waiting for his friend "to end up" his steak. Easily changed to "finish" his steak.

This certainly read like a dream. All the characteristics… Custom-made only for you with no other passengers. But rather unimaginative for its lack of splendor and amenities. You should have had a cloud nine experience with wonderful sex and all those accoutrements that come along with a carriage 8 miles high.

I have scary dreams like that all the time. But I only write down the ones that have some message for others. Not one like this. That are just frightening, but resolved when one wakes up. I think everyone has dreams like that… Nightmares.
However, if this dream has some meaning in your life other than birds of prey are menacing, perhaps you could write a story like that.
You need to go back and edit function for this story and remove the multiple copies.

I agree. I went to a tech and teachers college. Most of the students were not academically very good, but most of them had a craft or technical skill that they had already developed for college and were able to develop that skill while going to college and perhaps, get a good job with benefits like, teaching. But some of them always converted their skill into a lifelong occupation and livelihood.

Dreams are looked at in many ways. There are the dreams that becomes plans and occupations leading to success in life or failure, depending upon whether or not the rest of society believes in the same dreams. And then there are dreams that shock us and jolt us into other ways of thinking. I'm thinking that your poem is describing those secondary, sometimes strange, but often enlightening dreams that come our way.
