And they will remain so, as long as the subject of religion or politics doesn't come up. My brother recently regretted that he had lost an old friend, finding out sometime after his death because they had been estranged over politics. Even as my brother, he nearly got that way with me.
That's why, when around old friends, I tend to have old friends who are a lot like me.

I've proctored for the SAT ..... I worked at one of the nation's high schools where this is serious business, often way too serious. The tension in a stuffy, every-desk-filled room was palpable.

One wildly creative, satirical, and ironic spoof of the mighty Scholastic Aptitude Test! You have captured the idiocy, nuance, and frustration of this mind-boggling test very well.
You may not believe this, but I never took these tests seriously. I never studied or fretted a minute over a test like this, even the Graduate Record Exam. However, my classmates often went berserk and did all kinds of weird things to try to overcome their fear. These are the same people that fear income tax and become slaves to conservatism. Let's face it, it's just a test of what we are capable of. If we fear the test, then we fear life. For the test does nothing but check on our abilities. Not the cramming that we did the night before, the money that our parents spent with tutors, or the unnatural fear we have of failure.

Just for your information: I've often written test at work in order to up myself to certain level. It is called "Competition" exam. One position in particular requires us to write the exam. for the entire day!!!! Lots of IQ's are being tested, as well as our memories, and quick to identify disguised individuals, quick to act on given any situations. Also we are tested whether we know which direction to drive our cars when the wind blows in certain direction. All this-in-a-day's test. Yes, life is hard and full of competitors!!!

Quite apropos for those in the matrix of corporate climbing. If you don't want to be one of the recently unemployed, better to grin and bear it until you can be "the boss" and cut staff who have sourpussses with a big grin on your face because your salary just increased from your cost-cutting skills.

Yes indeed. What will Bobby do? Only the Lord knows what awaits us, but our business is that of the living and not the regrets of the dead. Time enough for that in eternity. I take it that Bobby is you and the R is for Robert. Maybe it is. You don't get out of this alive. But death is death and life is life. There is a time for both. Bob
