No language is vulgar when it says something better than any other language. That's why we shouldn't censor and "tell it like it is." Largely from inexperience, young people think they are invincible, will challenge one another, and attempt to do something they've seen others do or in a movie, just to see what it feels like. There is also the ever present nature of two things: fear and group (mob) action.
I used to live in a bad neighborhood. Kids in bad neighborhoods learn early on who their friends are. They band together with friends because they fear the mean streets. Being with others easily creates a "gang" of compadres. Rivalries start and territory is determined. In a group of young men, the one that does the rashest action is usually followed by all the others. If that action seems to bring results (like shooting out of a car and getting away with it), then the other gang members start to participate in the same behavior, regardless whether it is good or bad. After that it takes a strong individual to realize what is wrong and leave the gang. Loyalty is everything to gangs.

Unfortunately... no matter how our school systems have taught our children not to discriminate people of other races, such activities of hatred are still taught by some adults outside of the schools. In the today's world, Racism, and Religions seems to be the biggest reasons to raise wars. Sad. but true.

So many of fallen into the trap of alcohol addiction, along with many other addictions… Smoking is one of the worst. Leading to suffering and death. Everyone is invincible when they start. It is only much later that they find out they are not.

This poem seems like it was written a decade ago when it was patriotic to blindly follow our leaders who are wise beyond us and sure that our sacrifice is in their benefit.
Unfortunately, those ideals ring hollow as the death toll increases and soldiers come home maimed both physically and mentally for the rest of their lives.

So many peoples lives are shttered because of the drunken driver. It is a shame that it still continues as a problem to this day. Thank you for telling the story in such a clever way.
Child Abuse... (Poetry) - 2/15/2014 10:38:40 AM
With much of society living in apartments and tenements in the city, is much harder to learn of these atrocities toward children than it was when we were mostly rural and small town people where everyone knew everyone else and there were ways that the local people could help take care of the problem.
In the city is much harder to both find children who are abused, and to deal with the abuse properly.

Hard-boiled poetry. The kind that reaches out and grabs you and doesn't want to turn loose. The plight of the world today is playing out on the streets and inside cozy, comfortable houses which hides troubled kids with an addiction the violent video games and plays these games out in the class rooms across America.

This poem is so intense, as to be a true experience. We are gun culture and many believe, particularly the young, that guns are a tool of intimidation to be used for that purpose. There is no easy answer, but you seem to show by this poem that the community needs to pull together, find out who the culprits are, and bring them to justice before more harm is done.
