Clever - I thought I knew something about sports cars but France and emu exist on separate hemispheres, or is that the point about Facel Vegas being powered by Hemi engines. Or is it because Galahad was so involved in his cups that immortality could only be achieved by capturing the Corona Borealis before Serpens and Gilgamish could got there, three thousand years earlier. Obviously Oprah is Adam Smith reincarnated, but what has that to do with suffragettes? Thanks for the Monday morning smiles ...

Not many know of the life of Albert Camus, fewer of Sir Galahad's sexual orientation, and few still about the beauty and power of a Facel Vega. That's am interesting array of ideas tied together in a superb tale.

Takes me back to when I first read The Plague in high school. There was something terribly existential about Camus dying with the speedometer stopped at either a 140 km/h or mph (I think the former not the latter) similar to Princess Diana.
What's a poem like this (a very good one) doing in a place like this, the stories section?

I found no evidence that Salvador Dali was involved in those British safety cartoons, but they were still quite surrealistic.
On my trip around the world, I suggested that we buy a Sirocco (desert wind) and drive it from Germany to Thailand, so that my Thai friend would have a new, slightly used, German VW to use or sell when he got home (he already had a Mercedes 190 sedan and a BMW that needed a new 500 cc engine). He nixed the idea because he would have had to ship the car from Bombay to Bangkok because Burma was closed at the time.
At over 100 miles an hour, dodging trans-Asian trucks, donkey carts and camels, we would've likely run across children crossing the highway at great risk. When I was in Mexico in the 1960s, kids along the highway wore high visibility orange vests as some sort of protection from being hit by high-speed cars in their rural neighborhoods.
