At first I would have called this a romance novel, however it slowly turns into a suspense thriller. The story begins building around our main character, Grace, a general practitioner at a clinic and includes her friends and coworkers. We are then introduced to her elderly parents that she attempts, among protests, to care for. The characters are well described and quickly become intriguing to the story. Harry, one of her coworkers is madly in love with her but has yet made his feelings known. When a new doctor, Gideon, enters the scene he quickly pursues and wins Grace's heart. Shortly thereafter he has moved into her home which is across the street from her parent's home so that she can keep a keen eye on them. Her retired doctor father and her bipolar mother begin to suffer mishap after mishap pulling Grace between her work, her parents and her relationship with Gideon. While trying to juggle everything Grace also begins to experience strange and disturbing coincidental mishaps of her own. With Gideon flip-flopping between being supportive and dismissive, Harry is there to help try to pick up the pieces and solve the mysteries.
"Best Served Cold" is a well-written drama with strong characters. The book pulls you in from the beginning prologue and quickly becomes a real page-turner as you wait to see how the beginning story-line concerning the death of one of Grace's patients ties into the events that follow in her life five years later.
This is a quick, easy read that I finished in one setting. I look forward to reading additional works by Carol Margaret Tetlow. I recommend you check "Best Served Cold" out. A "thumbs-up."

The author brings to readers a story filled with well presented and interesting characters who have a variety of personalities. Their relationships are believable. The novel flows smoothly and is easy to read. The descriptions of the setting and food add much to the narrative. The ending was a total surprise. Highly recommended.

Tetlow brings alive the complexities of the human mind in this riveting drama.
While the story starts out slow - continue to the end - it becomes apparent why the book is written in the format it is.
Allowing readers into Joan's everyday life, we are able to better understand how her illness went undetected for so long.
Using the medical field as the basis for her books, this author has unlimited topics to pull from
Highlighting mental health in such a way gives readers a glimpse at how imperative it is patients are honest with their healthcare providers.
This well-written book is a must for every home library.

This is very hard book to read. It didn't make send to me at all. It took me a while to read it. It is not well written and I would bit tell people to read this book. I didn't understand the characters at all. I thought it would have been better than it was.

Best Served Cold, a novel by Carol Margaret Tetlow, opens with the unexpected death of Dr. Grace Dunstable's patient. Five years later, she is dealing with a busy medical practice and she is concerned about her aging parents, especially her mother. Attractive and charming Gideon enters her life and she is smitten. Even though they share some happy moments, Grace's life begins to unravel. She wonders how much more she can take.
The characters are well defined and their fictional world feels real. There is an underlying tension throughout the entire story and as a result, the story is suspenseful and engrossing. I found this to be a well written book. Highly recommended.

Faith Hope and Clarity is an engaging story about a young woman Faith, who has a busy life as a family doctor who still lives at home with her mom who is more busy with her horses than building a bond with her daughter. Faith is in love with Jonty who is very charming but does not always treat her the way she should be treated which makes her feel less confident and insecure. She starts developing an eating disorder because of that. She has found a great new job at a medical practice and gets along great with all her co-workers. When Jonty asks her to marry him she feels that she finally will get the life that she was dreaming of. She is so busy preparing for her wedding and being busy at work that she does not realize that Jonty is not taking their relationship that serious. When she has to make the hardest decision of her life because of his actions she finally realizes that her relationship with her mom and her co-workers, especially Rob, will get her through this. At first as a reader you really get to know Faith’s life and her relationship with her mother and Jonty. You also get a good idea how the mind works of somebody with an eating disorder. As a reader you feel both sorry and worried for the main character Faith.
I really loved reading the book because of all the drama in the love story and the way the story of her patients are described. You really get to know the main characters because of how well described they are in the book and you really get to know what they feel and think. A great book to get into the story and relate to the characters. Highly recommend it!

Best Served Cold is an engaging story about a young woman Grace, who has a busy life as a family doctor and taking care of and worrying about her elderly parents. Her mother is suffering from bipolar disorder and has her ups and downs. When Grace meets Gideon, a neurologist who is new in town, she quickly falls in love with this charming doctor and she feels that finally she has the life that she was dreaming of. Then strange things start to happen in her life which really upsets her a lot and she starts to think that she might have the same mental issues as her mother. Her co-worker dr. Harry looks out for her as he is secretly in love with her. He slowly figures out that all these strange things that are happening to Grace and her family are not a coincidence. At first as a reader you really get to know Grace’s life and the way she is caring for her family and friends and everything seems normal. It then turns into a love story and you really feel good that Grace’s life is going so well. But when things start to get mixed up and even get dangerous you really can feel the tension and suspense and you just want to keep on reading to know how the story will end. As a reader you feel both sorry and worried about the main character Grace and her parents Sylvia and Douglas. I really loved reading the book because of all the twists and turns that you didn’t expect. It turns from a love story into a suspense thriller. You really get to know the main characters because of how well described they are in the book and you really get to know what they feel and think. A great book to get into the story and relate to the characters. Highly recommend it!

Calling this book of intrigue and evil as delightful seems an oxymoron but -- it is the description that immediately popped into my head after reading the last word.
The way the author begins this story grabbed me immediately. While reading, I wondered how the prologue related to the rest of the book until the end when that 'ha ha' moment happened and the relevance of the prologue became clear.
The story decidedly takes place in England, where nurses and/or doctors make house calls as part of their daily routine. The quirks in language were classic of living in England.
Gideon's character is so insidiously evil but in such a controlled-sickeningly sweet way the reader is all but yelling at Grace to 'wake up'.
At its core the author found a brilliant way to combine the best and worst of people into one remarkable story. The characteristics of Grace, Gideon, Douglas, Sylvia, and Harry had me wondering if one or all of them may have been based in reality.
After reading this book, I am looking forward to reading others by this author. Also praise to the artist of the book's cover.

Change of Mind is an engaging story about a young woman Joan, who has a difficult life taking care of her mom who is slowly slipping away in her own world because of dementia and taking care of her young rebellious son. She is working as a receptionist for a medical practice and gets her emotions mixed up in thinking that her boss, doctor Jon Britton, is in love with her. At first as a reader you get to know Joan’s life and Doctor Britton’s life and really get to understand the way they live their lives and it seems like everything is normal. Then as a reader you really get an inside look into the dangerously mixed up way of thinking of Joan’s feelings towards John Britton. Especially at the end of the book you really can feel the tension and suspense and you just don’t want to put this book down. As a reader you feel both sorry for and worried about the main character Joan. Really loved reading this book because of the twists and turns that you didn’t expect. You really get to know the main characters because of how well described they are in the book. A great book to get really into the story and relate to the characters. Highly recommend it!

Change of Mind is the dramatic and riveting story of two people whose lives become dangerously intertwined. John Britton, a general practitioner in a team practice, knows he needs to face and do something about his career and his health. Joan, a receptionist for this medical practice, is a woman whose life is spiraling out of control. She can barely control her young son, her mother's health is rapidly declining and she becomes convinced she and John can have a life together.
There is an air of tension as the well crafted plot slowly unfolds. The reader becomes completely engrossed as the lives of the well developed characters move towards a surprising conclusion.
The author brings to readers a well written novel. Highly recommended.

This book was an enjoyable story that follows Faith, a doctor, who has many issues…a struggle with food, an unhealthy relationship, and a difficult mother. I really enjoyed reading about Faith, who presents herself as a respected doctor, but behind closed doors has many struggles that people wouldn’t expect. I had a love-hate relationship with Faith…there were many times that I just wanted to shake her and tell her to wise up, but I also related to her in many ways.
The book is 251 pages but it took me a long time to get through…there was something about the pacing that made it feel a bit slow.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story and the characters and would definitely read more by this author.
