For a coach (a bit sarcastically), you are a damn good writer! There isn't a flaw in this wonderful story! And it certainly is inspirational. I remember my father trying to teach me the fundamentals of pitching, telling me I had a natural fastball and was throwing a curve when I didn't even know what it was. I wasn't that interested in baseball, basketball, or football, because I saw so much favoritism based on who your father was in selections for teams. Like Amanda, I was small and wiry with a lot of endurance. I ended up in individual sports where everything depended upon me.
In Microsoft Word, the dash (--) is a special symbol. I usually use two hyphens to represent a dash when writing, and then come back and use the Replace All to change the two hyphens into a single dash.
The AD editor does not like complex (hidden) formatting in Microsoft Word. I usually save my document in something with less format, like text (.txt) or rich text (.rtf) before copying, and then make sure that I use a "special" paste in my browser. I use, "Paste and Match Style" in Safari to get my story to look like it was originally formatted.

I would say it is a hopeful, "lost love" poem. It is very rare that these wishes, however heartfelt, come true.
