I think this is very well-written, Kathy. I enjoyed reading your story. I think there is a "to" missing in this sentence: "when you try settle next to him..." I make typos all the time and appreciate when others point them out since I don't notice my own. Lol! Thank you for sharing. Love and best wishes to you,

Thanks, Ron. My thinking is that if its freezing, she can put stuff outside and it will stay frozen.

Well written. I especially like the way the animals were thinking… Like humans. The only thing that caught my eye was a well-stocked freezer. If the power was out for over a week and the freezer was inside by the warm fire, it might be a problem.
My parents kept a freezer in a shed at their summer home in northern Wisconsin. They spent the winters in South Texas. Upon returning about mid April to Wisconsin one year, they discovered that the power had been off sometime during the winter and all of their frozen meat had thawed. It was a costly and terrible mess to clean up.
