deep breaths. (Poetry) - 5/13/2020 2:58:13 PM
An inspiring read, this reminds me of a quote I heard recently, "Just keep swimming". Yes, it's from the movie Find Dory, but I feel like it still applies. Sometimes we don't know where we are heading, but this doesn't necessarily mean we are headed down the wrong or incorrect path. Keep aspiring for greatness!
deep breaths. (Poetry) - 5/6/2020 8:45:32 AM
A great metaphor for taking in the good and expelling the bad. A lesson for everyone to take to heart.

Perhaps a cry for help. With all the opportunity there is, there is little time for apathy in a changing world.

Ron
ode to growth. (Poetry) - 2/18/2020 9:25:36 AM
Without the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune," we wouldn't have the experience that is required to mature. Briefly and poetically stated, you have shown us.
Ron
nothing more. (Poetry) - 2/18/2020 7:52:48 AM
We have to be happy and like ourselves before we can truly love someone else. I've told my kids and G-kids, the best advice I can give them is to live on your own, and by yourself for awhile. It's the best way that I know, as to how to get to know who you really are. Once you know yourself, and like who you are, the rest comes a little easier.
ode to growth. (Poetry) - 2/16/2020 9:20:04 AM
You got that right. You can't ignore or wish away those things that hurt us, physically or emotionally. We have to deal with them as best we can, and the scars are a reminder of what was, and that we survived to be here now, and can shine a light on the darkness.
living in a dream. (Poetry) - 2/11/2020 9:20:13 AM
Filled with delightful thought. But there is an underlying question of whether or not it is real.
Ron
indecisive. (Poetry) - 2/6/2020 9:10:47 AM
Writing can be cathartic, and good therapy. It can be writing for wellness, so keep on writing, and stay positive.
indecisive. (Poetry) - 2/6/2020 2:31:26 AM
A realistic poem. We all have scars. Some we like to write about, but some we don't.

that afternoon. (Poetry) - 2/4/2020 8:10:53 AM
You got that right. We do need darkness to appreciate the light. Glad you made it back from that dark abyss.
art. (Poetry) - 1/26/2020 9:14:09 AM
This poem begs an image. So I wonder if you could come up with an appropriate one and post it? Your poem also seems to be chiding someone for rushing their art. But I don't think that the muse when it appears allows one to stop and consider… Instead, there is a compelling thrust of creativity that must be let out or lost. Better to have created with it than to have it lost forever. I believe that some of the greatest art was made from momentary surges of energy that could not be stopped by anyone asking for restraint.
Ron
art. (Poetry) - 1/25/2020 8:42:55 AM
We're all a blank canvas when we're born, and I think I've been repainted more times than I can remember. But still, I'm ready for a new coat of paint. It covers up a multitude of sins.

Sad and thought provoking poetic thoughts! We just had our Bible study this morning and the topic was "Growing in the Valley" or in other words trusting the Lord during the down swings of life. This time of year can be very tough especially just after the Christmas season. Hope and pray your on the upswing at this time. Blessings, John Michael

great smell. (Poetry) - 12/15/2019 4:54:57 PM
Rain cleanses the air the streets, the trees, the grass
it refreshes our outlook if we let it
it restores our faith if we are attuned to it
it clears our thinking when we need it
it feels great on our face when we seek clarity
it turns a kiss into magic
when it is shared with the one you love.
Does it also smell great?
Oh hell yes.
the good. (Poetry) - 12/13/2019 10:28:50 AM
As ready as I am, last night my mouth got so dry that I could hardly open it to call for assistance. I tried keeping my mouth closed and breathe just through my nose, but that has always been difficult for me. So you struck home quite literally as I sensed the distinct possibility how I will breathe my last breath. Because I physically can't anymore.
Doing good every day until that time comes. Lovely poem confirming that sentiment.
Ron
the good. (Poetry) - 12/12/2019 9:22:37 AM
We're born to die, and that's the cold hard truth. It's up to us to make the best of our time here, and be the best we can be.
clear skies. (Poetry) - 12/11/2019 10:36:48 AM
Experience is a good teacher, a good preparer for the future. Reminded me of countless times that my words were mistaken and storms of first anger, followed by regret, came and went. But one thing we must understand as writers, exposing ourselves to the Internet, is that we must have developed an umbrella for the deluges that will surely come.
Thanks for clearing the air.
Ron

Clear skies indeed, How they come at a price, as you so insightfully lay out in this fine poem.

A trickle of rain greats, grates, Greeks or greets your/my nose. ;-)
But since water has no color, taste or smell… Nobody knows.
I can still remember northern Wisconsin well water that always had a lot of iron in it and had a real metal smell and tang to it. Loved the taste of that water.

my room is blue. (Poetry) - 10/31/2019 9:35:23 AM
"Blue, blue… My world is blue when I'm without you," words of the song comes to mind as I read your poem. Most of us who have been depressed can relate. The only thing incongruent is, "I'm getting old." Hardly true. And, the cadence and rhyme is not as good as that song, but I'm struggling with writing my latest poem today. The idea is to get the reader wanting to repeat the words, and repetition, like in most songs, works well when rhyming.
Ron

sea of blue. (Poetry) - 10/20/2019 9:38:12 AM
Very philosophical. Metaphorical as well. Perhaps that is what is going on with the, "momentary pain," like being stung by the thorn of a cactus. I was confused with one line until I realized that you are writing about aisles rather than isles. Unless you really meant islands in the mirage of blue. Blue being a melancholy thought.
Ron
never want to leave. (Poetry) - 10/19/2019 11:49:57 AM
I really like the nuance of this. While I often have sat on a hilltop, particularly in autumn and thought I could discern ancient paths taken by animals first, and then by humans. It was those very paths that were widened for wagons and then, paved for the convenience of automobiles. From what I gather, you are fine with that. And do not wish to go back to an earlier time like so many others lost in nostalgia rather than facing the future.
Ron
