wow!I "fell in love" with this captivating novel when i read it for the first time.The content clearly depicts retrogressive cultural practices that curtail children from achieving their academic ambitions in life and that should be avoided at all cost. Asha Derrow,is a good example of a few dedicated and self-driven girls from such restrictive backgrounds who strive to overcome social anthills that bar and cut them off from making independent decision.Her attitude, persuit, ideas,and tolerance are virtues to be emulated by all readers of this book. Kudos! Great literal work by the author in demistifying this cultual jargon!

It is exhilarating to learn that Dissecting Poetry is being appreciated in Mandera and many other areas in Kenya. No other book has explored High School poetry in depth like it. There is a myriad of style, from imagery to features of absurdity. The poet, Felix Kagwe has contributed with poems that depict mnemonic features. The book has more than forty assignments with answers. Students are encouraged to get copies.

Andrew Nyongesa's dissecting poetry is a nice book in poetry. it provides sufficient guidance on how teachers and students should approach poetry but special emphasis is laid on the aspects of moood, attitude and tone.It is a book that simplifies poetry and makes it more interesting than ever, doing away with the notion that poetry is hard.I tried using it to each my students in class in Rhamu day secondary in Mandera County,Kenya and within a short period of time my students developed a positive attitude towards poetry.For the lovers of Poetry "dissecting poetry" by Nyongesa is a must read book.

surmount the Essay world by Andrew Nyongesa is an awesome book for both teachers and students of English. It clearly outlines the difference between a good composition and a bad one through written examples that has a good plot.Having discovered the various challenges that befall both teachers and students, the author goes ahead to explain in simpler terms the different types of essays and provides guidelines on how each essay should be approached.It is a book that once you read it it leaves one better equipped with writing skills. i love it so much because it has improved my writing competence.

The novel 'worm in the loungue' by Andrew Nyongesa is a must read book.It depicts how the Somali culture is oppressive and restrictive for it doesn't give the girl child to choose what suits her life but instead it has predetermined destiny for the girl-child.

I absolutely agree with Mr. Morwani's review of this book. Mr Macharia, a publisher, informed me of his cousin in Murang'a who has gradually improved in both narrative and expository essay writing since he acquired a copy of the book. He will soon testify of it personally. No other book has the power to transform a candidate in to an essayist like SURMOUNT THE ESSAY WORLD. The examples given categorize narrative essays from A- D with typical features of each. A candidate is then at liberty to choose which essay to write.The A candidate, for instance, writes emotively while depicting the culture, tastes and moral. The essay has a very definite spark and errors are rare. H/she writes pleasantly with many margin ticks, many item sof merit at sentence level as a sign of good command of the language. It is the most suitabe book for candidates preparing for examinations.

most students and their guardians are always appalled when a teacher comments, average, on their students. But how much do they know that average is mediocrity, that a average scores lead to average scores which in turn lead them to average life. This book on writing quality essays can remarkably improve a learner's performance. Its not through magic or any guided rote writing, rather it is through a self teaching and self-evaluation strategy.
The book provides an avenue for the leaner to evaluate some writings, critic the the marking and thus endear him/ her to write with evaluator' marking scheme in mind.

I used them to accentuate that animal world, a difficult thing to do in allegories. 'Irasale' is an anagram for 'Israel', and so tigers represent the semitic race.

While I had a bit of trouble following all the family relationships, the father-son struggle emerged as the primary purpose of this chapter. Very well written. You have a way with words that shows you are a very good writer.

Both Khaemba Wafula and Ronald Hull from different parts of the world agree that a student ought not cheat to excel in exams. But Qamar Nurrow believes that it is a means to an end and the end will justify the means. one has to learn to survive, so goes the cliche. But we would rather seek success rather than survival. The means justify the end, hence is true success. Qamar gives bad signals. if as a student she can cheat, what will happen if she becomes a minister or a leader? she loot the national treasury and make the her nation bankrupt.

According to the narrator cheating is and must always be the norm in exams all over. the examining body is and must always know that students all over cheat. students found guilty of the 'the generally accepted vice' should not therefore in any way be victimized especially so when they are from a minority group. in the event of any victimization, the blame is shifted to the likes of Mr. Owuor, who are perceived anti-cheating. am not sure whether the examining body cares but at least when one reports herself that she cheated, it does care. how does the same class give the same answer 'proceed to the answer' in a math exam and expect this to go unnoticed? hehe.
well cheating is a reality in our school system. it may not be practiced in a dramatic way as the one described here but it is there. however, not everyone cheats. the root cause is our education system which places too much premium on grades and unhealthy competitions.

I never had to cheat to get good grades. My good fortune frustrated some of my fellow students who tried everything they could to improve their grades, often failing. When I taught college courses, even to graduate students, I continually found cheating and couldn't believe that some had gotten so far… Even to doctoral programs… With cheating. In the school of hard knocks, I think it's worse. The sad thing is, is that cheating is counterproductive. Cheating gains nothing and disrupts a lot. It is the downfall of individuals, organizations, and countries. Yet many engage in cheating, thinking that's the only way that they can make it. They are fools.
A very ironic and accurate picture of what's happening in schools. Great work!
