I took this to be a chapter from a book rather than an article. I post mine in the story section with a clear indication of which chapter it is so that the reader can read the book in the proper order.
While I found Conrad's paranoia over what he perceived as great danger quite well written I had a bit of trouble with how he was making his escape to a crematorium (as part of a church?) Or perhaps, just a funeral home where funeral services often are held.
You made me think back on my freshman year when my twin brother signed up to late to join me on the second floor of the aptly named, New Men's Dormitory. He ended up on the fourth floor with a cool dude roommate with a 55 T-Bird, lots of cash and women when he wanted them. I ended up with a lovesick guy from a state away who went home to see his girlfriend every weekend and over the Christmas holiday left school to marry her.
Since my room had a vacant space, they sent me Shit Pants down from the fourth floor where he was bullied for his Oedipus complex and other weird ways. I tolerated him through the semester where he managed to fail four of his five classes and still marry a graduating senior slut that all of the fraternities knew and abused as Miss Piggy. Somehow he got a good job in a small town and that's the last I heard of him, thank goodness. Many roommates after that… Some memorable and some not.

I'm not a music follower or reader of music related articles except in Playboy over the years. However, your article touched on my love of rock music and the sometimes, similar riffs and wording that appear. Unfortunately, these similarities sometimes result in copyright infringement. When I write poetry, I find that I am often influenced by phrases from famous songs and may include them in my poetry along with clichés that I've heard should not be used in fiction or poetry.
With all the beautiful work out there to read and listen to, it's hard not to be influenced by someone else's original work.
Thank you for such a thorough analysis of the Led Zeppelin/Spirit case. You have a much better ear for rock music that I. I simply have enjoyed it, danced to it, and sang along, very badly, over the years.
