So wonderfully heartfelt for your mother. Fortunately, my 91-year-old mother still calls me every Monday at 4 pm so that she can read me on her TTY. We haven't been in the same room together since 2011, so she cherishes those calls to me.

Sometimes on a warm autumn afternoon while sitting alone on a wooded hilltop, one can hear the distant drums and smell the campfires cooking the bounty of the land for eons before progress came and changed everything to what it is now.
That's the life I miss when I venture out in fall to those now silent, ancient hilltops. But the leaves still rustle in the wind and the birds still sing. It's a happy time to be alive.

I believe this stems from All Saints Eve, combined with fall solstice celebrations, so that Halloween has become a mixture of pagan and Christian tradition like Christmas and Easter. No matter how hard religion tries to stamp our pagan roots out, it never seems to work. I love paganism because it is so close to the natural world.

And it's very important that we don't just, "Go through the motions." If we are given the gift of life, we should all strive to make life better for everyone. That is not easy. It is hard. Sometimes, when we think we are giving, we are actually taking away. So, it is very important that we sow the right seeds because we have only this gift of life for a very short time in the scheme of things and we must not waste our gift on simple pleasures.

I love music too… And dancing. Why is that some churches, like mine, a Presbyterian church, banned dancing? And some churches declare some kinds of music, "devils music?"
