silent pathways (Poetry) - 10/1/2015 4:22:52 PM
A deep poem from the soul, I felt this one. I too have wished I could return to dolls, jack rocks, and all those little girl things when life was less complicated. Well penned and thought provoking.

AS WE PROGRESS DOWN THE PATHWAYS OF OUR LIFE THERE ARE CHANGES ALL AROUND US. VALUES, INTEGRITY, HONESTY 'WE' AND EVERYTHING ELSE CHANGES TOO. THE WAY I FELT 20 YEARS AGO I DO NOT FEEL LIKE THAT TODAY BUT I'M STILL HERE AND I EMBRACE WHAT I HAVE, WHAT I AM FEELING...TODAY. I KNOW TEN YEARS FROM NOW I/MYSELF WILL NOT FEEL LIKE I FEEL TODAY AND THAT'S OKAY, CAUSE I KNOW THOUGH MY PATHWAYS ARE SILENT 'CHANGE' IS ALWAYS GOING ON, BUT GOD IS 'STILL' TOTALLY IN CHARGE OF EVERYTHING. A THOUGHT PROVOKING WORK, ENJOYED. THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Powerful and emotional. "and dirt was just dirt..." I have read this poem four times and was caught within its maze each time. Thanks, Chris

You have so beautifully described the torment some of us put ourselves through. As I read, I felt as though you had actually experienced what you were writing. We've got toads and fire ants aplenty, but horny toads seem to be an endangered species around these parts… Suburban Houston. Ron

I've been down that road a time or two. So well expressed. Keep them flowing.

Summer Song (Poetry) - 8/7/2015 5:58:57 PM
I miss the ocean, and a visit to it is always a comfort and a great treat. Am sad when i have to leave to come home, but get over it, cause i've lots of friends nearby to visit with.

Summer Song (Poetry) - 8/6/2015 7:27:32 AM
Its quite a song, with lots to share; I enjoy reading it. Thanks for sharing, Sketso!

Yes, I can feel the sea right now. Luckily I live only 20 minutes from the shore in Connecticut. I am blessed. I dread the cold coming sooner than we want. Nicely done! Peace, love and light, Amber

I have already reached the part of "… Mourning for the mornings of warmer days." It's hot right now in Texas and on the Gulf seashore and I like it that way. However, on my visits to the seashore, I find that the wind and the constant sound of surf and seagulls with little vegetation from salt spray to be a little bit annoying if I stay too long. Ron

Odd man out! Ron

when the sun goes down (Poetry) - 7/25/2015 6:04:48 AM
Hmmm... This is constructed well, like the style. usually there is very little you can say to a significant other, nothing you can hide...for long....that kind of silence can be comforting. Being bored with yourself, on the other hand, is not.

A Nonny Moose? (Poetry) - 7/25/2015 3:45:43 AM
Sketso~ Never, that is, until our eyes met again. Wonderfully penned. Lady Mary Ann

A Nonny Moose? (Poetry) - 7/23/2015 11:31:17 AM
Many believe in the kindred spirit or 'twin soul' - the one who you cannot let go of once found, come hell or high water; but this also speaks perhaps of the finding of self and of self-acceptance or self-recognition. All of these can be as painful as they are a great relief. I like the way you have set this up, Sketso, as it develops and intrigues. And it's also open-ended; we can interpret according to what we see here. Welcome to AD! :)

No disclaimer required. A very insightful and well written history of a life. May the dreams win out over failure. Ron

learning through my lunch at LaFortune (Poetry) - 7/15/2015 8:55:55 PM
Your recurring theme "they don't see me like I do..." is a truism about our individual perceptions of self vs. how others perceive us invokes a lot of conflict and misunderstandings--the stuff that gives good writers fertile grounds for sampling. You have done it very well. Thanks for an enjoyable read.

learning through my lunch at LaFortune (Poetry) - 7/14/2015 6:06:51 AM
It does kinda come out for ya then... and I allude to it in the beginning. "Bald over Scarlet" is a big bald biker riding a shiny bright red bike. No beard. ;)

learning through my lunch at LaFortune (Poetry) - 7/14/2015 5:55:10 AM
I really like the atmosphere created by this one. A bit long and repetitious, like a long lunch outside munching on cheap cheese. Although our read it twice I'm not sure what" spotting bald over scarlet" meant, although you know. And, while I get the impression the writer is riding a motorcycle, it doesn't come quite clear. I do get the image of a bald, bearded biker, with a scarlet bandanna. The analogy between bird behavior and human behavior is well presented. Ron

when the sun goes down (Poetry) - 7/11/2015 10:23:20 AM
I sense an underlying theme here. The bane of most men. Poetry helps. But the drudgery of day-to-day doldrums, lack of exercise and bad diet leading to bad health, turning young stud into something he tends to despise. Unless, of course, if new blood is introduced… Ron

when the sun goes down (Poetry) - 7/10/2015 2:11:12 PM
Then, make that first step. Follow the desires of your heart. It's time to break the silence which seems to be of your own making before it becomes impenetrable.

when the sun goes down (Poetry) - 7/10/2015 12:53:36 PM
Seems to me you are making thing more complicated than need be. You said, "the times when I'm supposed to share my triumphs with someone who's already seen the best of what I had to offer;" It never has to be this difficult, just be yourself There is no sense in putting yourself through all these tests.

Utopia Found! (and lost) circa 1981 (Poetry) - 7/9/2015 10:01:30 AM
Few poems ever held my riveted attention like this one. This is a superbly told tale of man's best friend, and the sorrow that comes when he's gone.

Not Worth the Words, William (Poetry) - 7/9/2015 9:22:10 AM
The best poems I find are from the heart of a poet if it be his first poem or last. In this respect we cannot judge ourselves or our ability.

Utopia Found! (and lost) circa 1981 (Poetry) - 7/9/2015 9:15:55 AM
this is a very sad and moving poem which is what life is all about.

Utopia Found! (and lost) circa 1981 (Poetry) - 7/8/2015 8:01:00 AM
Brought a tear to my eye. A fond memory in poetic form. My twin brother lost his wife to a tragic accident last year. Now he's living in his big house with his faithful Rocky, getting old and will sometime pass the way of your bearded friend. I lost my graying black Pomeranian to a killer big dog… Heart wrenching. You can read about it here in my story: Jazz's Death. Often wonder why they tend to be kind and euthanasia dogs that have started suffering so much from ailments, and then take older people and warehouse them in old folks homes where they rarely get visited and sometimes, suffer mistreatment and are drugged while waiting to die. Wouldn't it be much easier just to give them the opportunity for euthanasia? I often wonder, too… What's wrong with us? Ron

I have not read William Wordsworth, but I have read your poem and find it quite delightful and revealing. Wonderful personification of a cloud. Ron
