This book is a drama, romance novel, and crime story all in one with a Christian viewpoint. The inclusion of Biblical scripture makes the plots stronger and more compelling. The storyline focuses on two main characters: Victoria Winters, an unfairly discharged school teacher forced to return to her aunt in Chicago and Adam Wakefield, a small-town preacher who has recently accepted a position at a large, wealthy church in Chicago. The two meet on the train and the story turns toward Chicago. Pastor Wakefield comes across some unusual, sometimes illegal, practices in his new church and sets out to make some much needed changes with the congregation and church board members. "River of Fire" is a well-written, intriguing book that has many plots to unravel. Darrel Case has an easy-flowing writing style that is very enjoyable. I highly recommend this book!
