I didn't have time to read all of your excerpt, but what I read was well-written and interesting to read. It's not my genre and I'm very busy with my own writing and publication.
One thing struck me immediately. A gay guy that I hired as a caregiver failed miserably because he was physically quite weak when we need someone strong. Anyway, he was quite the conversationalist on a long trip that we took and in the process, admitted that although he had married and had a daughter and considered himself bisexual, he had to admit that he was really gay. Since then, he has married a long time male lover.
