Appears to be part of a larger story. I'm not sure that I fully understand Elira's part in the future End Times. Or her need to connect back to the reader today.
Early radios used a crystal to create a frequency. This story may be using that scientific principal for communication from the distant future to us…a warning?

What a wonderful oral history from Caroline. What struck me most was the heritage she brought from Irish ancestors, I believe. Her childhood was so much like mine.
When I was born in 1941, we soon moved into an old farmhouse on the edge of town in North Central Wisconsin with a large woodstove. Our Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters were much like Caroline’s on Maui. So surprised that they were not very Hawaiian. Rob why she kept referring to Honolulu.
Our grandparents had a farm and milked more than three of six cows with a milking machine. I remember loving the milk still warm from the cow. No one came over to get some milk from grandma, but it went to the dairy to make butter, cheese, drinking milk for townspeople and ice cream. My dad worked in an ice cream factory.
Mom was an excellent homemade bread maker and many people came to sample what she baked along with many dishes, Christmas candy and desserts, starting with that wood stove that heated the kitchen in cold winters. Electricity had come to that part of Wisconsin only about 10 years before. One of my uncle farmers became an expert winemaker when he grew older. But the staple around holidays was Jewish, Mogen David Wine, a concord grape wine from New York.
My younger brother took his new bride to Maui on their honeymoon. My parents vacationed in Hawaii to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

I have never read a more positive affirmation. Keep up the good vibes. I'm with you all the way. While I write about the potential of human disasters, I'm optimistic that things will continue to get better for everyone as long as we continue to think that way and not negatively.

Tucson's Cemeteries: Part II, Continuing Growth (Article) - 5/9/2021 10:11:44 AM
I am unfamiliar with Tucson and a bit familiar with Phoenix. I find it interesting your research on cemeteries in and around Tucson. I understand why Hispanics are there and of course the US military, but I think that places like Tucson became the burial point for many adventurers and seekers, mostly male, who ventured out West until they could not venture anymore from rooming houses and died in the desert.
I find it quite amusing that citizens and cemeteries, just like in Phoenix would want to attempt to maintain "lawns," when the environment would suggest a simple desert scape to be much more practical and economic.
The Tucson community owes a lot to your research and reporting on the history of these cemeteries, private and public.

Empowering Bios (Article) - 4/10/2021 11:37:23 AM
A good article. I find that many people here on AD either have bios that are not really them, just playing with words or some gimmick or, worse, claiming they are "best-selling" "award-winning" or other lie that isn't but is bogus as their pseudonym.
At one point you mention a written physical description. I think one should have some photos that are not out of line with the role you are playing, that would suffice for "a thousand words."
My resume runs 13 pages and my autobiography that skims over much of my life is over 600 pages. So I find short bios of 50 characters too brief and misleading. I have been paralyzed for 58 years, 30 of which I semi-passed for "normal" and people don't believe that I could have accomplished all that I did with my hands and arms paralyzed the way they are.
Even in person, people immediately think that I had polio or that I am a veteran. Worse, that I got my spinal injury from one of the usual accident sources. So generally, brief bios of mine leave readers with a lot of questions about me unresolved.

Tucson's Cemeteries: Part I (Article) - 2/2/2021 12:31:00 PM
Interesting reading. I always thought of Tucson as part of the old West. Didn't think of it as the Spanish way of building missions to subjugate the local Indian tribes to their way of Catholic Christian behavior.
I recently bought my cremation. My parents asked me if I wanted to have a plot next to theirs in the tranquil north-central Wisconsin Riverside Cemetery where they are buried, along with most of the family, with their gravestones marking the spot and clearly stating their lifespans for future researchers to review.
Today with urban cemeteries particularly overcrowded, expensive and of little value to a highly mobile population, it is best for us to be recorded in the great database in the cloud so that we will not be forgotten for our short lives in these times that will soon become ancient.
But it's always nice to walk through an old cemetery and see who is buried there.

Some very definite uplifting words without any definite direction except towards the positive.
An architect that I knew said he made his money designing cookie-cutter apartment houses that have grown up like weeds in suburbs in urban America. Three blocks away from my relatively maintenance-free and lawn free solar passive home set in the Georgia Pines he had built an underground home on the east facing slope of Bear Mountain with a spectacular, especially at sunset, view of downtown Atlanta 8 miles away in a kind of mythical distance. He told me, "Nature is the best landscaper." I agree. Although we often see romantic pictures or paintings like van Gogh of rural scenes in Europe, none of that landscape is original, just like most of the landscape in the United States today. Where the landscape has been left to nature is where real beauty lies. Why we must maintain wilderness and all costs today while we still can.

Thank you for the rich look into Tucson's late nineteenth century Christmas season and including all religions and their celebrations around that time of year. Those certainly were simpler times with some scarcity that required ingenuity, the season remains similar regardless of the century with its endearing rituals, particularly for children.
You made me once again recall, at five or six, my twin brother and I being dressed up as tops, one yellow, and one blue, for our church's small town Nutcracker play that year.

I do not believe in such things as angels. However, so many do believe, that gives them solace at a time of tragedy and death to think of a life after death that is idyllic and contains idyllic messengers and guardians like angels.
I believe your words work well in this case of helping someone get over grieving for a great loss.
