Mayhem, Murder, and Marijuana: The Los Angeles Marijuana War (Book) - 1/22/2018 8:22:57 AM
For a first time author, Arik Kaplan’s “Mayhem, Murder, and Marijuana: The Los Angeles Marijuana War”, is a terrific addition to the thriller category. The main character, Adam Copland, is believable and likable (although far from a perfect and ethical person). The author, vividly describes the Los Angeles Marijuana War started by illegal marijuana growers. Because Copland is both wealthy and a legal dispensary owner and grower, he becomes a target of violence and wrongdoing by Los Angeles ‘street thugs’ that grow grass illegally.
Meanwhile, the antagonist stirs up a hornet’s nest of trouble: interstate drug trafficking, cyber-crimes, buying marijuana from double-dealing crooked cops, and murder. The thing that got me, is that this is all based on a true story. Geez!
I agree with the author that marijuana legalization and incarceration is a topic that needs further investigation and discussion.
And interestingly, throughout the entire story, the author maintains a wonderful sense of humor.
Needless to say, I highly recommend this fantastic novel by a new author.
