Compliments on having written a good book.
Quick Silver is a fast-paced thriller and unputdownable book. The story revolves around Ila and her adventures in a parallel world. The story is mostly written in first person i.e. from Ila’s point of view. Two characters of the book Robin and Prithvi are well carved out. Especially Prithvi and the reader tends to sympathize with the character. Ila’s character could be strengthened a little as she appears to be everything from a normal middle-class girl to a witch. The parts where the cat is narrating the story are visual but the introduction of the same comes suddenly. The authors liking for literature is evident in some words being used which are uncommon. For a fast-paced novel, it becomes a hindrance to the reader.
The book appears to be inspired from Harry Potter series with magical and mystical characters. My take would be that we could do with a fewer “mystical” characters. Every type of character from vampire to witches have been used. It makes it difficult for the reader to keep pace with the plot. The very well written and visual part of the book are the “serving of blood as wine” to the guests by Ila and Prithvi during room service and the incidence at the metro station.
The end of the book needs a second reading for getting what the author wants to say. This could be simplified.
