As I read the explanation of book, I tended to agree with every word. And, after looking at your background in management and consulting, you and I have similar backgrounds. That is the problem. While I can write articles expressing my concerns about economic matters, I am not a economist. I don't have any refereed articles in esteemed journals like The Economist. In order to have any credibility in nonfiction and history, generally one has to be highly educated and lettered in economics and history. That does not mean that a generalist can't break through the highfalutin bullshit. It's just a whole lot harder.
I like your excerpt, except that it is very short. Unfortunately, it quotes Karl Marx. For most people of conservative leaning that think that unbridled free enterprise solves everything, all they have to do is see the name, Marx, and immediately label the author as communist. Marx was an economist and philosopher, but those that are naïve about history, government and economics brand anything of his as communist. And not the communism that Marx described, but the corrupt state socialism of the Soviet Union and other failed regimes run by dictators.
