I've seen The Devil in Miss Jones, and this isn't it… Thank goodness! ;-)
What you have written is wanton destruction by some ancient evil brought to life from a fictional story 100 years old. I think, unless I got it wrong, as far as the narrator is concerned, she is forewarned about the "Dagon" by an even greater evil so she can escape, "for now."
The conclusion of the story seems to be missing, so I downloaded the whole story and found that it was the same as the story posted here. Frankly, I don't get it. Perhaps too deep for me to understand?
