I'm glad you have that clear memory of what your mother meant to you.
My mother was a wonderful mother that gave me one thing many mothers don't… The freedom to do and make my own mistakes, allowing me to leave home and out from under her loving arms mature enough to make it on my own.

fell on my knees with gratitude for having a parent. So msny children have none.

A very wise way of looking at problems that seem insolvable. Most of the problems of this world are attitudinal. It's very difficult to change peoples' attitudes. But they do change, over time, and something like a major tragedy or impending danger, can change attitudes overnight.
I am grateful that there are those willing to grab onto major problems, chronicle them, and collect data that is necessary for proving how severe the particular problem really is. Without them, ignoring problems won't make them go away.

I don't believe we've stopped thinking about problems, but we have become so divided that any solution offered up by one, is quickly dismissed by others, and it turns into a vicious circle, and nothing gets done.

A very wistful write that seems to come from your own experience and your disclaimer at the beginning about making the wrong choices when it comes to falling in love. Unfortunately I don't think that we can beat our hormones when it comes to being attracted to opposites and sometimes finding out they are our worst choices ever.
Beautifully rhymed and thoroughly covering the unfortunate circumstance of love going wrong.

I found your poem very unique and literary. While I didn't completely understand the meaning in your poem, I enjoy the mystery of it as well as the lesson it teaches about how we sometimes have to walk away from a fight rather than face it head-on to hurt.

THE EXPLORATION OF THE INNER SELF TAKES A LIFE TIME. THE ONLY ONE THAT REALLY KNOWS THE CITY WITHIN... INSIDE AND OUT...LIKE A MAP, IS THE ONE WHO CONSTRUCTED IT; GOD.
