I'm not a book reader and have too many books from fellow authors I haven't read, but your latest is of some interest. And I wonder is your, The Last Plague, prophetic?
My great uncle was a Fire Chief in a small town in Wisconsin. He hated arsonists. I only got to know him long after he was retired in the brief times we were together he didn't talk much about his firefighting days. His third wife told me that he died of "black lung," after several bouts with pneumonia at 98. "Just stopped eating."

Your excerpt reads like you had experienced this tragedy. From what little I read, I do believe you have the makings of a thriller here.
