As I read your poem, it made me think of John Lennon's classic, Imagine. Let us hope we do not have to imagine much longer. As a disabled person, I was different. Many who knew me, thought of me as strong and resourceful, and didn't bother to help if I needed help. On the other hand, whenever I needed help out in public, people of all creeds and colors, stopped to give me a hand. We are all good and kind to those we do not fear. But unnatural fear is worse than no fear at all.

The whole world is a community. Especially now when confronted with a threat that teaches us all equally. The danger is creating small communities that are isolated from the reality of the larger whole that humanity is.

I hope they are not fair weather friends and then gone. I hope they are real friends and when they hear your plea, will return to those familiar places where you have seen them before.
Just when I get to know an author here on AD, they disappear. Perhaps it's because they can't pay for a membership. Perhaps it's worse. Perhaps they are ill. Perhaps they even have died. After 10 years, so many have come and gone. But a few people hanging around and reappearing like forever. And that makes all the difference.
