Mothers of Pine Way, Pine Valley, Book Two (Book) - 9/17/2021 5:54:10 PM
Mothers of Pine Way is the fictitious story of a town populated by Americans and Mexican Americans who are all connected either by blood or history, or both. It spotlights the women who draw strength from God, each other and the natural beauty that surrounds them in their poverty. As they come to terms with the joys and pains of their experiences and heritage, they persevere while reaching through changing times to a promising future. A fine story from an author whose unique writing style is apparent and very much enjoyed. For me, this excerpt from page 211 of the ebook sums it all up; "This story never really ends. It's like a beautiful stream in one's imaginings, the story of this place where we live." Kudos, Corrine Ardoin!
Free To Be (Poetry) - 9/14/2023 4:23:22 AM
"Free to be" can be a blessing or a curse. I am also wandering in the labyrinths of my mind without knowing for certain which path to take. So well written, Corrine.
Free To Be (Poetry) - 9/12/2023 3:52:54 AM
When freedom eventually arrives…
the warrior feels bereft of that lifelong role…
The role that kept the heart pumping, being there
in the thick of the worst pain and heartache…knowing
that survival was possible if the fight went on..
But there is a different kind of warrior emerging now…
A warrior of peace and self care…remembering how
precious this new found place is…and preserving it with all your heart…
for it is the precious place within our Heart that the struggle was ultimately for…
At last …HOME…❤️
Love,
Diana…
Free To Be (Poetry) - 9/11/2023 10:40:43 AM
Once a warrior, I guess it never leaves. I'm not sure if that is freedom or not. But as your intro states, there always seems to come a time when a warrior puts down his or her tools of war and wars no more. Except in the mind.

Quiet Places (Poetry) - 9/5/2023 10:44:51 AM
This is outstanding, Corrine. I wanted to be there in your quiet place with you.
Quiet Places (Poetry) - 6/18/2023 10:04:11 AM
Such a beautiful and charming piece Corrine…
Your poetry always makes me ‘feel’ the experience you are describing, and encourages me to
Compare with my own…they are often almost identical…
I felt so at peace after reading this…
and wondering what lies ahead too…
Hopefully writing a new and happy song…

Quiet Places (Poetry) - 6/18/2023 7:05:59 AM
Love your low-keyed, nostalgic composition. It draws me in and holds me to savor your charm. Of course, you had me at "Quiet Places."
Quiet Places (Poetry) - 6/17/2023 11:03:20 AM
Like you, I love quiet places. Your poem, so beautifully written, took me back to those many times I walked and observed, alone in nature. While it seemed quiet except for the rustling wind, I imagined a beehive of activity of nature with plants growing, insects working and animals hiding from me in the trees and grass.
A wonderful place to think about our lives and to compose poetry.

My Mother's Death Has Come (Poetry) - 6/16/2023 6:39:54 PM
This is an engaging and soul-reaching account, Corrine. Again, I can relate because my mom was increasingly hard to "connect" with as she grew older. She was an incredible human being who worked herself to "death" bringing up seven children notwithstanding taking care of a husband and others who often came into our home. She chose to give up on this life and this world when I was still very young. Love, peace, healing and goodness,
Regis 🙏🌸
Quiet Places (Poetry) - 6/16/2023 6:35:11 PM
To what you express via your verses here, I can completely relate, Corinne. It is as though I could have written your words had they been gifted to me. And, your poem is a fine gift. Love, peace, and best wishes, namaste...

My Mother's Death Has Come (Poetry) - 4/23/2023 11:22:31 AM
Actually, a tribute to your mother who created the strong person you are. You reminded me of my sister and my mother's relationship. Often stormy, but my sister was there when mom died. My brothers and I weren't.
Thank you for being so honest.

My Mother's Death Has Come (Poetry) - 3/31/2023 8:40:52 AM
Beautiful poem! It speaks to my heart. I did not have the happiest of relationships with my mother! Yes, she had her strange moods, her anger, her disappointment in me--but I never knew why. Like you, I felt I never really knew her. Now that she's gone, I find myself looking back, trying to put the puzzle together of who she was and what and why she did what she did. She never spoke of the terrible things that happened to her, possibly sheltering me, but leaving me to figure it out based on my memories of events that did not at the time make sense. Thanks for sharing your poem.
My Mother's Death Has Come (Poetry) - 3/29/2023 2:47:25 PM
This is as pure, as sweet, and as loving as a poem gets. You brought tears of joy to my eyes. May your mom rest in peace.
Coalesce (Poetry) - 3/9/2023 1:35:56 PM
I love this, such good flow in your writing the words ease down!
Coalesce (Poetry) - 3/9/2023 11:41:14 AM
What a wonderful walk down memory lane of poets and songsters. But the 60s come together in my mind quite well with all of those actors playing out their parts. I often listen to them before I go to bed now.
I visited a friend doing a two-year tour in the Navy at Alameda Naval Air Station a couple of times during that era. Even ate spaghetti with his uncle's family there one evening after his uncle took us to the Oakland water department where he reversed the sand filters using millions of gallons of water to show us how he cleaned them.
Later, I traveled to Alameda one evening to sail with a friend out in the Bay and even got on the tiller around Alcatraz and Treasure Island until I fell on the slippery boards from the fog.
But I never knew of any record stores down some narrow walkway that I think you are portraying in this poem.

Quite a ride through nature's senses from a particular part of the Western United States as opposed to other parts of the world where other senses fill the heart and soul of poets to write down in words nature's impressions.
Loved it!

Contra-time (Poetry) - 3/5/2023 8:31:04 AM
Your perfection of word choice took me back to my days of desert hiking and climbing. Your sense of nature and its interlocking merge with we as humans are noteworthy. So many words have been written re: plant, tree and flowers of nature, but allowing our olfactory sense to be satiated with such beautiful thoughts and images was enlightening. Write on.
Life One Time Long Ago (Poetry) - 2/28/2023 4:11:45 AM
I hope your flow of words have been somewhat cathartic and empowering to distance you from the darkness.
Life One Time Long Ago (Poetry) - 2/18/2023 11:19:45 AM
I never was afraid of the dark or anyone when I was young because my father and my mother were both very strong in different ways. My father would never let anyone hurt me and my mother was always there to console me no matter what happened or how it happened.
But I can see it was different for you and I hope that by sharing more and more of your darkest secrets, put away because of fear of death, can now be revealed because those threats, except in your mind no longer exist. Thankfully, just remnants of the past.
Ron
Life One Time Long Ago (Poetry) - 2/18/2023 10:58:05 AM
Corrine, this is such a courageous piece of writing…
Hidden fear is a terrible and haunting legacy that
is borne of such vile and disturbing circumstances
that you have spoken of,
and can infiltrate every part of life thereafter..
I truly hope this is a liberating and cleansing
experience for you…No longer to feel “cast in
the shadows, in the corner”…but to enjoy
Liberation and bask in the bright light of grace
and goodness…Your words must surely help anyone
who has suffered in similar ways, and it is so selfless and
brave to offer your pain to assist others…
I wish you Love, Inner Peace, and Happiness free from fear…

Life One Time Long Ago (Poetry) - 2/18/2023 10:12:00 AM
How brave of you to put it in writing for others to benefit from it. I truly wish no one would ever have to go through something like that. The more it comes out in the open, with survivors sharing their story, the less blame and shame victims will put on themself. And maybe that will help them brake free sooner.
Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Life One Time Long Ago (Poetry) - 2/18/2023 9:17:14 AM
The first-person usage of language makes this very personal. As such, the reader is struck with the courage and honesty some will take to reveal aspects of self, hoping such exposure with inspire others of like experience will express as well. Hopefully, your message is read and given serious consideration by each reader. There's a degree of your life's experience in all of us. It too needs to be expressed for without grounding the disturbance, it will continue to make its house calls uninvited. Good luck to you. In my own way, I attempted to explore darkness in "An Artist's Glass Darkly," an effort to objectivize reality, dissonant as it is.

Thoughts For The Day (Poetry) - 12/27/2022 12:29:41 PM
I related to this as a person who has passed hasty judgment of others, while hating such when it happens to me. I have longed for a sense of accomplishment and greatness, while also feeling satisfied that I can now live the simple life, with less pressure and expense. Your poem is worth reading numerous times, and gives an opportunity for more reflection. Thanks for posting it!

Overflowing with wisdom. The simple life without reflecting can lead to feeling prejudice against others for no other reason than simple differences. But the simple life, fully reflecting on all life going on around, can result in some earthshaking conclusions.
I like your whole poem for its beauty, but the last three lines bring it to a wonderful conclusion.

Thoughts For The Day (Poetry) - 12/17/2022 11:17:10 AM
A telling image, that speaks to me of the Creator's grand design. I sense hope threaded throughout this piece, and hope (IMO) is always a passion for the possible. Nature, in my life, has always been the greatest and most truthful teacher. Sadly, in this world, wherever there is a crowd, there is always untruth. A quietly introspective piece that can be read (and interpreted) several ways. Thanks for sharing. Happy holidays.

You remind us that at least one constant in life serves as an anchor.
Thankful For The Moon (Poetry) - 12/8/2022 4:15:55 AM
that was a lovely analogy of the passing clouds and the moon, as if i have pictured out memories in front of me, moments and experiences that are fleeting, gone. and i am still here, no matter how i hold onto these memories with happy or sad emotions, time will take them away. how lovely it is to let go.
Thankful For The Moon (Poetry) - 12/6/2022 3:36:50 PM
Oh how beautiful your words are Corrine,,,
Just the mention of the Moon has me captured

You have caught the essence of the atmosphere as

Dreamtime (Poetry) - 11/24/2022 2:22:46 AM
What a delightful read! As a minimalist I could break
this down into 27 poems, and take credit for knowing a
lot more than I really do. But of course it would lose
its charm, and its majesty, and its creative insightfulness.
I would have to call it "Dreaming with Corrine," and that
would really stir up your beautiful words. Thanks

Dreamtime (Poetry) - 11/18/2022 10:58:06 AM
Wow, that certainly is a revelation of a stream of consciousness that seems to take you far from the present or away from your bed into a surreal environment.
Wish I had those dreams. Mine tend to be rather narrow in scope and focus on solving some problem that seems insolvable. And lately, very sexual ones that go way beyond anything I've written of a sexual nature. I have dreams of falling, but mostly in the house when I go to get something and find my feet out from under me in my head and body heading towards something dangerous.
During my travels through Canada, I managed to see a few provincial parks, but not the Garibaldi Provincial Park you pictured, just Waterton Provincial Park just across the border from Glacier Park in the US.

A Friend In A Strange Land (Poetry) - 10/31/2022 10:46:48 AM
Knowledge is like that… Like your poem. Once we meet someone strange and began to know him/her better, we find that we have more in common than we thought.
I recall meeting my host in Karachi Pakistan for my four-day stay in 1978. He and I hit it off immediately as though he was as close as my twin brother. We had the same tastes in almost everything. We enjoyed each other's company for four days. When he called me while visiting the States about 15 years later, we resumed our conversation as though the years had not intervened where we left off.

When Death Comes For The Young (Poetry) - 10/11/2022 1:27:59 PM
I understand your loss. My nephew was in an automobile accident. Such a heart breaking experience. He was a young man with two children and one on the way. A child, never to know his father. The accident brought a sadness to our family that we had not experienced in decades. But it was now our turn to suffer. Why did it have to go like this? You ask yourself over and over.
When Death Comes For The Young (Poetry) - 10/8/2022 7:47:41 AM

When Death Comes For The Young (Poetry) - 10/7/2022 12:23:12 PM
How tragic. Yes, when the young die, we all die a little, never to find our former equilibrium again. I once skidded sideways in heavy ice and snow and headed directly toward a massive concrete foundation of an overpass. I was certain I would die but did not have time to panic. Instead, my car mysteriously lurched to the right and avoided the pillar altogether. I walked away without a scratch, not even a sign that I was there. The incident imprinted on my consciousness just how fragile life is. Death rarely comes at our convenience, perhaps teaching us only to live it as best we can. I am sorry for your loss knowing that death grants us no favors.
We Call It Home (Poetry) - 9/17/2022 11:17:06 AM

What can be more important than having somewhere to call HOME…

What is Life? (Poetry) - 8/27/2022 9:13:45 AM
Such a well-crafted composition on a difficult subject!
Is the universe an endless series of random events, or
is it purpose-driven and cohesive? You've strengthened
my belief in life. Thank you for this gem.
We Call It Home (Poetry) - 8/24/2022 8:07:25 AM
From age 9 to 11, my twin brother and I picked beans in the fields all day in the hot sun for about $3 a day that we saved so that our mother could buy our fall school clothes and school supplies. I liked the experience, but didn't have to do it for a lifetime with meager pay that would not even allow me to own a home or even rent a decent one.
Very soon, the beans were picked by machine and by 17, after picking raspberries one summer, we started to work in a factory for $1.25 an hour. My paycheck that I put in my savings account for college one week was $120!
Farmworkers need to have that kind of upward mobility within their lifetime. Even the ability to buy and run their own farms. Studies have shown that family farms produce better crops and are more productive than factory farms often filled with environmental and employee abuses.
Your poem highlights the plight of farmworkers. I am well knowledgeable about the plight of caregivers. Until we start paying everyone what they are worth instead of what we can get away with, poverty hidden like you reveal in your poem and obvious on city streets, will continue when there is enough wealth to go around for everyone.

What is Life? (Poetry) - 8/19/2022 2:59:43 PM
One of my favorite topics. First wrote about it in eighth grade. I think you are more connected to life than most of us. Your poem reflects that.
There's only one thing missing. All of life is extremely aggressive. Underlying the peacefulness and cooperation that has evolved there is a struggle to survive where alliances amid the smallest of the plant and animal kingdom keep life in balance so that no one form of life takes over from the complexity that has evolved from which your beautiful poem emerges.

Upper Kinney Lake, Carson Wilderness (Poetry) - 8/15/2022 12:32:08 PM
There is beauty in all you write,
words that find the truth
even in barren, rocky places.
How warm it feels to read your words.
Upper Kinney Lake, Carson Wilderness (Poetry) - 8/8/2022 8:50:11 AM
"Before the fall off the cliff," may be a metaphor for something terrible that happened, but the thought of slipping and falling physically off a cliff is something that I've experienced and it was one of the most spine deep scary things I ever experienced. Sliding on loose rocks if I even tried to move and my left leg so strained it began to spasm. If my friend hadn't thrown me a rope, I would have slid down that scree to a point of no return and fallen to the lake below that I foolishly thought I could easily hike down to.
But I truly believe that in your case, writing about harsh words and forgiveness, you are referring to a place where one can go and in that stillness and solitude think about what has happened and how it can become a part of healing with wisdom rather than terror.
Ron

Corrine your words will be familiar to many, and to myself,
especially when we were young and discovering
who we were, and our points of view felt sacred
within our own hearts…
On the other hand, those beautiful moments of
wise thoughts…
“spoken in silent moments by the
stream of gentle breezes”
are so valuable and knowing, and contain within them
the real learning you speak of…
peace and healing…and the real wisdom
of true forgiveness, maturing into
Stillness, acceptance and trust…
Nirvana…

Your words touch, move, and create tears of sorrow for those under attack, and anger against the inhumane actions of that tiny wobbly bastard KGB tyrant who cannot see past his pile of rusting nuclear bombs. I wonder what he would do if he stood on the hillside of his $1.4 billion house, and saw 1,000 cruise missiles coming for him?

A touch, descriptive tribute, a snapshot of the reality of war. Terrible that so many people have to endure such misery as life in other places goes on as if nothing is happening. Fine work.

A heartfelt poem. Writing can be very cathartic.

Corrine, your writing here is so courageous…
It is as though something within you is
finally loosening..but slowly and carefully…and this is
the first tentative step from your inner self
to lead you to unburdening that which has haunted
you, yet will finally lead you to freedom…
and finally inner peace…
A superb piece of writing that cannot fail to touch
the hearts of all who read your soulful words…
