I once met a young woman from Bangladesh. She was married a week and, against her parents' wishes, left her husband. She ended up in Canada studying for her master's degree, unable to ever go back home. I only saw her that once when she visited Morgantown West Virginia to see her cousin who was in our doctoral program. I don't know what happened to her.

A work of fiction that tells a story of a girl named Smitha who lives in India where her older sister is to be married. While Smitha is excitef forher sister, she cannot but feel disgusted at the way women are treated in Indian society, particularly when it comes to marriage, where her father arranges for her and pays a dowry to get the man to marry a woman. Smitha vows to defy this even though her mother says," We can't change the customs society had been accustomed to for years. It takes a noble erson to speak out against these evils." Smitha becomes just a noble person.She becomes an independent woman with her own career and source of income, and, therefore, she takes it uon herself to handle marriage proposals. When sha finally meets the man she wishes to marry, they settle down in Malaysia and have a son named Bhasker and tha story then begins to follow his life. This story focuses on the beautiful and wonderful aspects of life that occur even in the middle of the dark and painful moments

The story revolves around a central character, Smitha, who utterly disgusted with the chauvinism at her time, braves her way out, through her inspiration and opportunism. The second part tells the story of her son Bhasker, whose deep-felt love for Anna is so striking and admirable. The story focuses on the beautiful and wonderful as well as well as dark and painful moments in Life. Such is the truth about Life and the happenings are reflected in the Recollections of the past.
A book of inspiratin for all as there is truth and fantasy mixed admirably.
A great story that has been written in prose, conversational style and drama about a highly inspirational woman that brings to the readers an excitement totally different from others. Moreover, several incidents that follow one another portray combination of the real happenings from the autobiographical touches of the author.
All in all, I am certain that the story told by Smitha and that which touches on the love and romance of Bhasker are narrated and told with perfection to excite the common readers. Teenage Readers from Britain and america have admitted that it is a great story told.
