Homelessness Up Close (Poetry) - 1/16/2022 12:27:51 PM
So vividly written from your experience. Would make a good theme for a film. Someone survived all of that, somehow, to write the story and become famous as a result.

Homelessness Up Close (Poetry) - 1/11/2022 2:40:05 PM
Sherry this poem is so real and so heart breaking. My tears came and my heart ached as I read it. No one should have to go through such an experience. You have captured it too well in your words.
Homelessness Up Close (Poetry) - 1/9/2022 1:28:26 PM
Dearest Sherry, this deeply touched me. I too was homeless before and know how humiliating and sad it was. It was a time of trial but exercising in faith. I learned that earth is not our true home, that were just passing through. With that nomatter if we're are with or without home, Almighty God gives us an eternal home that no one can ever take. I can tell you God allows things for our schooling in growth, strength and above all testimony to give others hope, enlightened power that we can overcome many trials. The times were in is as of Noah and those that are seeking and obedient as His children, not just his creation will be spared. Keep writing poetry because it really helps others. Thank you

Oh, no! This was really sad. No one is deserving to live like that. I hope it would not be too long for her to get back on her feet.

Homelessness Up Close (Poetry) - 1/9/2022 10:45:35 AM
Such a sad tale that no doubt repeats itself in many places to many people who find themselves on skid row. My heart goes out to all those who suffer such things. No one deserves this. The poem says it all.

My Knees sneezed (Poetry) - 9/21/2021 9:32:35 AM
I know exactly what you mean. My legs spasm. It is exactly like a sneeze that comes on suddenly without my knowing it. But my back sometimes sneezes and nearly throws me out of my power chair in a great convulsion while I try to hang on for dear life. If I'm thrown out of the chair there is no getting back. As far as I know, I have no arthritis like you but I do have nasty paralysis where although my muscles seem strong, my brain can no longer command them to do its bidding.
My partner is like you, with a very green thumb. But she has great losses that she makes up for by just planting more and trying again. Gardening takes perseverance and sometimes, trial and error. It is hard for me to go outside except for a small deck where I get some sun every day if the clouds permit. But I see many of the fruit and flowers through large windows that we have. And the bonus birds, critters and insects. All four seasons although not very pronounced.

It's a great line, but I would not like to be called
the Knees Sneeze. No offense, but the bees got there
first. Still, I get the point. Nice write.

all Through the Night (Poetry) - 3/8/2021 8:58:30 AM
So beautifully written. You reminded me of the times I went out to Brazos Bend State Park one half hour from my home in the Houston suburbs in the late afternoon to observe all the animals coming out in the cooling light and the snakes crawling upon the heated asphalt to soak in the remains of the day. And then, about the time to leave, when all of the swampy lakes came alive with the night creatures and alligators booming their love songs while the myriad birds settled in for the night.
Thank you for the memory…
Ron

Blue Heron (Poetry) - 2/22/2021 11:16:32 AM
Your plea for the Blue Heron goes out to so many birds that are endangered by our need for more and more territory. Around here, Houstonians are fleeing to new homes in the Katy Prairie (marshland) that was once only the home waterfowl like the Blue Heron. A half hour from here, there is a state park that is a small haven as urban sprawl will eventually overcome even it.
You remind me of the time when I was about eight or nine years old. We visited where my grandparents were working in a lumber camp in upper Michigan. While we were walking along a logging road carved out of the forest near the camp, we saw a Blue Heron hanging in a tree, dead. In those days, people would routinely shoot birds like that and then, not even eat them, but just hang them up show others that they had shot them. Thankfully most of that attitude has been changed except by poachers and other despicable people in our society.

Sometimes (Poetry) - 1/30/2021 9:09:05 AM
Sometimes I do hear when outside, even with my failing hearing, the birds twittering their messages to one another within the sounds of traffic in the city. Amazing adaptation to the noise of Urbana over the silence of the forest.
