I'm on my first cup of coffee so please excuse this simple review. I just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed reading this book. It is something I pick up and read on a weekly basis. I always come away inspired by Mr. Von's words. He touches on so many things, all of which he writes about IS life. There is something for everyone in this book. Nourish your soul, order this book:)

Mr. Von is a spectacular writer whose brilliance shines through in each piece, as well as take you on a magnificent journey through the depths of your mind and soul, and also on an expedition to learn more about the man himself.

We were all affected, the world over, not just the USA. Being a twin, I had always wanted to see the Twins, two buildings built to look alike; followed their construction in the paper, would stare, amazed, at photographs of the sky line with the Trade Towers proudly rising above all; it broke my heart to see them die, then fall, one after the other...it tore me up, to know thousands of innocents died, hero firefighters, police, medical personnel...while those who hate America danced in streets and ate candy. Thank you for penning this reminder to always remember and never forget.

The emotions that ran through my heart and mind after reading this touching account blew me away... I am a native New Yorker and rode the subway system many times from the World Trade Center, and I cannot describe what watching those two pillars of NYC fall did to me. The extraordinary way in which you wrote this story is a great tribute to your writing ability, as well as an honor to your service and dedication in keeping the inhabitants of this country FREE!
Even though you are a Marine, and fought bravely and steadily for our freedom, the significance of that firefighters lapel pin carries much weight, hope honor on it for you. That grieving father knew instinctively to give you one of his son's greatest gifts - because you deserved it. Wear them well, and wear them PROUD, my Friend!

Chase, I can only wonder what it must be like to be in a war (besides those we have in our own communities), and return with those thoughts, feelings, dreams. That's what my poem "Repaid" was about. I can't imagine myself. I have the most respect for you guys (and gals) in uniform. Thanks for fighting for us. I am from Jena, LA, and we are having our own civil war right now. It's sad but probably long overdue. I hope everyone emerges from this as better, not bitter, people with stronger values and ethics, and especially with more respect for one another. We are NOT ALL bad people. Racism does exist here but not to the extent the media would have people believe. Please pray for our community that our healing can begin soon and that our children, black and white and any other race, will learn from this experience and move forward in a positive way, with their heads up and look to the future with a positive attitude. Thank you for this evolving perspective on what it means to live life in contrasting states of innocence and violence. Particularly moved by your depiction of the physical violence that comes with physical war, and the emotional violence not always so apparent, that often comes with the silent rejections and shames that follow participation in war. This was a very emotional song, sung on behalf of all the soldiers. Yes, even when some do come back to a world that has moved on without them, they often feel strange and misfit, like they are being misplaced into a world where they're no longer part of it.
