Totally agree!! One of the kernals of Truth that I brought back from my Near Death Experience was "Everyone holds a piece of the puzzle but no one has the whole puzzle."
It is just a shame that they all claim to be the only Truth. It would be a big step towards freedom & peace if we all knew this. Then we would only have greed, power, illness of mind/body and hatred to conquer.

Shiv, you remind me so much of Deepak Chopra, who is a great teacher of healing the mind and body. You also have a very honest and compasionate face, and I love reading your work so far, and this story has a lovely moral to it, and makes you think. I will be following your future work with interest.
I live in Wales, UK and just at the moment I am following the outcome of "Shambo" the sacred bull at the temple of Skanda Vale. He has an order on him to be destroyed because he has been tested positive for TB., and even though he is not in the food-chain, the authorities still insist that he should be put down. I have been to see him because the temple is only about 20 minutes drive from me, and I can report that he is kept in excellent condition, and he's a very happy creature, and much loved by the monks, and all of us who show an interest in his welfare.

I loved the excerpt, its from one of my favourite books. I think that the argument about the nature of God is less about people knowing God and more about people looking for any distraction to really focus on doing the difficult things, like transcending their own humanity and practising unconditional love. Messages that people have been killed for *lol*

This is a nice story, addressing an important issue. I can't agree that the truth ceased to be the truth, however. The man was in the cave. That remained true. What changed was the necessity or nobility in revealing that truth. This message concerns me, because our society is filled with unnecessary deceptions that are not benefiting anyone. For example, the 'does this dress make me look fat' question. I see this issue as the opposite of the one you describe, because answering no when the answer is yes makes dishonest people of both the one asking and the one answering the question. Nothing good comes of it. I don't believe making a general statement that hurt changes the truth is honest.

Very good thought. One might also consider it better to say one is younger than to retire from work before one is feeling too old to work anymore. It would lengthen the liar's lifespan.

These are all good points. But do you really think nations of peoples who have ethnic grudges that go back centuries will ever really get it together? I spent nearly 20 years in international banking and marketing and for those twenty years it was walking a tightrope of prejudices that bordered on the ridiculous. I see changes only in theory and text, enough rhetoric to paper the world a dozen times over, but not much change in behavior. I wish it were such an idealistic world. But as it stands, theorists know theory, but not practical application.
