Bet You Can't Beat This (Short Story) - 10/11/2007 12:13:53 PM
This reminded me of my own children's births. My son was born the day after his father's birthday, and my daughter was not born on my birthday, but I got to take her home on that day. However, there was no ongoing eccentric rivalry played out in my family. We just had to accept it as part of life. Nevertheless, your story was good.

Showing Respect For Aunt Ilene (Short Story) - 10/11/2007 12:04:43 PM
Thank you for that valuable lesson. That is far more profound than anything that I have read in a while. I do not know if you read the bible or not, but it is a point that Christ made often and well. However, I know people who read the bible and the thought has never occurred to them because it must be over their heads. God bless you.

Beware: Dog Eating Sharks In Kentucky (Short Story) - 6/13/2007 11:25:23 PM
Come back, Sandy! Do you see what you are doing by allowing "them" to win.

Room 224 (Short Story) - 1/6/2007 2:10:29 AM
Excellant write, tantalizing, amusing, slighty sensual but still with a strong moral lesson that shines through. A little hard to believe from a man's viewpoint but a really gripping write. Nice to read you again Sandy. Fee

Bet You Can't Beat This (Short Story) - 12/16/2006 1:56:40 AM
Warm and heart warming and brought back a memory of my own Dad's funeral, he too was an avid card player as was all of his family. The night he was being viewed at the funeral home, his sister my aunt asked if I thought it would be okay if she put a pack of playing cards in with him. I said it was not only okay it was perfect and together we laid them under his hand and his rosary. Fee

Numb (Short Story) - 11/13/2006 4:01:18 PM
Intensely personal pain wracked story that pulls and tugs at the reader's heartstrings with a mixture of pity, hope, desire and even anger but always keeps them humming a tune of their own. Felix

Be Still My Hand (Short Story) - 10/14/2006 5:52:13 AM
It is hard to forget years of familiarity especially when put back into circumstances that echo times of past Sandy. I have been divorced from my first wife for over 25 years and when we do meet at social functions I still wonder what it would be like again after all this time, I think it is just human nature, but you captured it really well in this article. Fee

Resourceful Disassembly (Short Story) - 10/13/2006 10:57:59 AM
Yes a soul touching write Sandy!! Love Tinka

Resourceful Disassembly (Short Story) - 10/12/2006 5:40:08 PM
This is a soul touching write that anyone who has lost parents can truly appreciate. It has been over twenty years since my parents passed away but I can still remember after the funeral doing the same thing at their house but with 9 children you can imagine the circus it was, I took only a few personal momentos like you for I held their lives in my heart where it still lives today. He Deserves Better (Short Story) - 10/10/2006 8:27:47 PM
Thank you, Bob, Tinka, and Felix, for your reviews. This was a new exercise in trying to tell as much of the story as I could through dialogue.I published it in another group and it was interesting to see how differently the individuals saw the characters, since I left them pretty much open to reader interpretation.

He Deserves Better (Short Story) - 10/1/2006 6:40:15 AM
This is really well written. I see self esteem issues here on many levels. Bob H

He Deserves Better (Short Story) - 10/1/2006 6:34:48 AM
Sighh...Sandy this made me cry...and I just have no words to explain my emotions right this momnet!! To be at that crossroad in life is HARD...I know!! Love Tinka

He Deserves Better (Short Story) - 10/1/2006 3:39:10 AM
This is one heck of a real monologe that tells it like it is in so many relationships in the final stages of death. One party still clinging to hope and yearning to fix things that cannot be fixed, both unwilling to give up even though it is the best course of action. Fee

Tiny's Tree House (Short Story) - 9/26/2006 5:48:19 PM
Now this was an interesting and climatic story that I hope you will build on, I am not sure sandy if this is from personal experience or not but I for one would like to read more of the experiences of these now bad ass girls. Loved it. Fee

Roly-Poly Slobber (Short Story) - 9/3/2006 9:05:49 AM

Glasses or Stage (Short Story) - 8/16/2006 1:43:07 PM
Whether it was your intent or not for me this particular story is structured well and a very relaxing read. I like the way the story continues to move forward even though the scene stays the same. Do You Know Who You're Talking to On the Internet? (Article) - 3/27/2008 2:29:05 PM
I really enjoyed this and it has brought back many memories. I have had numerous "relationships" on the 'net with others. Most of the times they end because I'm "too real" for them. What I mean is that there is that bit of fantasy in a web friendship that can't be hidden in the real world. But to me, I treat both the same - real. If we try to hide something from someone - all we are doing is hiding from ourselves.

Do You Know Who You're Talking to On the Internet? (Article) - 3/23/2008 7:44:55 AM
Very good article. This is my second reading. Lots of fodder for thought here.

Do You Know Who You're Talking to On the Internet? (Article) - 3/22/2008 11:00:48 AM
I agree with Tinka on this one a person is nuts to talk and carry on a any kind of casual relationship, from simple friendship to a cyber affair without using a cam to at least see who and what you are communicating with. I am sorry but anyone who won't spring for a $20 cam usually has somthing to hide. As for name changes, I think, although I have never done it, a lot of people do just to protect themselves until they are sure who they are talking to. Either way their are good on line relationships and bad ones just like in the real world. hugs Fee

Do You Know Who You're Talking to On the Internet? (Article) - 3/22/2008 9:58:12 AM
Oh I can relate to this...but thankfully for webcam you can see the one talking to you if you are realy curious enough to see for yourself!! If not be seen...not to be trusted!! Love Tinka

God Does Make Garbage - And Other Annoying News (Article) - 2/9/2007 8:51:42 AM
Well said Sandy. I am worried that fundamentalist religion will prove to be the achilles heel of civilization - especially if the Islamic extremists get their hands on the A-Bomb either through Iran or a coup in Pakistan. Malcolm Watts

Everyone Has a Twin? (Article) - 7/27/2006 12:09:20 AM

I Hope You Choose Golf, Willie (Article) - 7/20/2006 2:01:39 AM
Well, I'm from Willie country, not far from where the old boy hangs out when not singing' and there are three things Willie does: music, golf and drugs and it is no secret. I'd prefer he gave up the drugs. Good article. Elizabeth

Standing ovation from me on this one Sandy, having had the privelege of seeing Willie here in my hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada (where he is as will loved here as in Texas)I agree with all you have to say about this legend. My Tshirts bear his picture, my ball cap his name, his poster is on my wall and his songs are in my heart. Felix

Al Gore and My High School Class Reunion (Article) - 7/8/2006 9:35:54 AM
Did you know Sandy that the same consultancy as was engaged by the GOP in 2000 has just been involved in the Mexican election, the result of which bears astonishing (or not depending on your politics) similarities. Thousans of votes in working class areas allegely left blank and the party claiming victory totally resistant to a hand recount(machines can't count hanging chad but a human adjudicator can easily see what was intended even if the punch machine has not worked quite correctly. People should not be hard on Al he fought a clean and fair campaign and when he saw the writing on the wall he accepted it gracefully. You would not have had him do otherwise. After all no American could support a President who did not win fair and square could they? I'll send you a British press report on that Mexican election fiasco.

Al Gore and My High School Class Reunion (Article) - 7/6/2006 4:34:03 PM
This brought back memories of my 25th class reunion (many moons ago). I was in bugle beads and heels and had traveled the world many times, and "they" were still in hush puppies acting like sopomores, and most had never left town to even get groceries. ROFL Elizabeth

Damn You (Poetry) - 9/5/2007 10:39:20 PM
Sandy, I especially liked this line in the poem... ...................................................................................... "...don’t want to know if those questions don’t plague you, or if you don’t have answers to mine." ...................................................................................... In fact, I liked the whole poem. There is turmoil and frustration, yet a bit of hope towards the end. I think there's a touch of fear expressed too. Very interesting. I'm glad I stopped by to read a while. I always find something to ponder and enjoy on your pages. Jill C

Hallmark it Ain't - Fable (Poetry) - 4/18/2006 4:08:57 AM
Intersting and kind of amusing but if applied to real life a most valuable lesson, life may not always be kind to us but it is the decisions we make in life that decide whether we are kind and how we will be remembered, Thank you Sandy for sharing this true fable, worthy of Aseop. Felix

Sublime Abandon (Poetry) - 4/1/2006 11:45:12 AM
"Who forfeits power and freedom with such sublime abandon and why"... so well said, Sandy... and the joke is it is all in the name of Democracy!! It is the same UK. Here it seems largely Democracy driven by the apathy of the vote; our abuse of right, rather than being disempowered of it or by it. But, on another level, perhaps this poem points up the covertness of friends... in that the closer the circle, the more difficult it becomes to highlight where our nearest and dearest are falling off the path... and the betrayal that is then felt by that "one" to discover that all SAW the problems and yet said nothing to them. In our "free" societies, the sleight of hand perhaps comes with the fact that we believe we are seeing what, in fact, is not the actual case. And we believe what we're told. This makes indeed for "festering wounds". Must stop gabbing, but neat write as always. TY Kate xx

Suspended In Time (Poetry) - 3/25/2006 4:58:16 PM
Love at times is like a gush of water running over a bizarrely shaped scape. Even when absorbed by the soil or evaporated by the heat of the sun, it does not change that fact that it once existed. Not a single particle disappeared since the beginning of creation, just like no event has ever escaped the memory of the universe. It is the essence of life, no matter how unaware of this we may be. Poems perhaps are the retrieving tools of life. RAge

Sublime Abandon (Poetry) - 3/25/2006 4:49:27 PM
If answers seem too terrifying to contemplate then not asking the questions that would provoke them is nothing less than a deathwish that's merely still unfulfilled. It is the mechanism that allows the destruction of this world, the betrayal of Love and the continuation of the fragmentation of the universe. Perhaps the occurance of this event is inevitable nevertheless, but is good to see some at least refuse to go without knowing why. The powerful way in which this was done in this poem gives the effort even more meaning. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care, RAge

Sublime Abandon (Poetry) - 3/21/2006 10:47:25 AM
Hi Sandy: May our country find peace -- some day. May we avoid senseless violence -- some way. Hank

Sublime Abandon (Poetry) - 3/7/2006 9:14:41 AM
Ditto Felix!! Love Tinka

Sublime Abandon (Poetry) - 3/6/2006 2:15:43 PM
This forces the reader to look deep at the questions you pose in such fine style. Lately it seems we are almost afraid to ask the questions because the answers are just far too terrifying to contemplate. Poliitics, world affairs, education, religions and people have seemed to devolve into somthing we never thought that could be. Well done poem here asking hard questions. Now who will answer? Felix

Bottled Promises (Poetry) - 2/21/2006 4:43:18 PM
Dearest Sandy Thankfully these experiences make us stronger and lead us closer to that one true love whom we crave deeply in our hearts. In hindsight, when we find the love we've been loving all along, we will thank any unrequited loves for helping us find our true soulmate that much quicker. If its deep in your heart then so it will be! Lots of love to you Sandy In friendship Suzie xox :-)

Fantastic write. Rings true. I like it!

Bottled Promises (Poetry) - 2/2/2006 10:43:18 PM
Maybe we're not meant to win at the game. Maybe the best we can hope for is to have some chances to play. Love can be as cruel as it is beautiful and although we are all very similar,in many ways we differ. Our only saving grace is the fact that we are constantly changing, at times that draws us closer together, yet it can also push us further apart. Life and love should'nt be so complicated. Excellent, Pierre.

Bottled Promises (Poetry) - 2/2/2006 5:21:35 AM

Sandy...I am impressed this got inside my mind and heart and I knew I'd been there before. This poem so well done in rhyme, meter, imagery is all superb but the ability to grab me and let me know I am not alone that others have felt the same sting of lies and love is so....astounding. Felix

Suspended In Time (Poetry) - 1/31/2006 4:07:29 AM
Perfect. I agree that love develops solid base as it matures over the years of togetherness. Abdi-Noor

Suspended In Time (Poetry) - 1/31/2006 1:11:57 AM
True love never sees the extra pounds or the imperfectons. And even if they do..they don't dwell on them. It takes years to ferment such a togetherness, but once found the sweetness is embedded to a forever depth. Perfect write. Lisa

Suspended In Time (Poetry) - 1/30/2006 5:27:28 PM
Deep introspective look at love as it ages and matures. We all suffer I think the same angst as our years ahead seem to look shorter then the ones behind us. At least that someone is out there waiting in the wings. Perfect write here Sandi I give it a 10. Felix

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 1/25/2006 5:21:33 AM
Until you reviewed my new article, I didn't know about you and your work. Hey - from down in Georgia. This one is simple, deep, direct, and so soft and gentle, it leaves me with budding tears. That, my dear lady, isn't difficult, but it takes special and meaningful words, and you have penned a batch of them, here. Thank you for a brighter morning. - Bill

Thank you for your words. I think my father lives in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Anyways, Thanks again. Rhonda

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 1/24/2006 1:36:08 AM
'I danced to the rhythm of your heart'. That is so beautiful! What a wonderful poem, and so intelligently put together.

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 1/14/2006 1:38:45 PM
I read this twice to be sure I understood correctly. It really moved me. I particularly loved the lines... 'Still felt the magic of your hands / Years after you took them away'. It's been my experience that one always gets hurt again - its the one thing I have to make a conscious effort to stop caring about, i.e. love like you've never been hurt. Difficult. But possible. (I hope.)

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 1/14/2006 10:08:24 AM
I'll have to come back and read this again - but that's a sure sign I liked it. I spent a lot of time this summer videoing a spider in the garden (for a video to accompany a poem)I've never had a relationship with a snake. I guess only have such involvements. Ian

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 1/7/2006 6:34:06 PM
Like many other fellows, I sometimes wonder why attractive women go for guys like that - well, I admit I too watch the weather channel in the morning.

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 12/25/2005 11:39:48 AM
hi sandy, i know so many of us wish we knew now what we used to know, or wish that the world wouldn't change the way that it always does...great expression, souful piece. regarding your bold issue, i can tell from the spacing that you've used word to create this. what happened, is that there is html underlying the text. so you should always take what you write in word, put it in a text editor like wordpad, and then take out any extra spacing or bolding there, save it as a text document and then copy and paste it. have a merry christmas!

Once Upon Another Time (Poetry) - 12/14/2005 5:08:06 PM
Excellent! I love this poem!

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 12/4/2005 2:45:33 PM
A wonderful encapsulation that is beautifully personal but embraces the universal perfectly. The three-line tag is haunting and to me sounds like the chorus of a wonderful ballad of a song... in fact, the whole could be a tremendous Christmas Number One! Thank you for sharing such a deeply moving testimony to an irrepressible and enduring love. LOL Kate xx

Wish I Knew Now What I Did Then (Poetry) - 11/30/2005 8:36:53 PM
But I guess we don't know so we can taste the sweetness of knowing and appreciate the difference when it does come so much deeper, just like in love. I also think our learning isn't very smooth. I ahve gone years without learning much and then wham bam in a matter of a few seconds I went through double paradigm shifting. Life is invigorating! Bill Cottringer

Step Outside (Poetry) - 10/25/2005 2:04:30 PM
As usual, Sandy, you deck me with your brevity and yet your fascinating ability to conjure a myriad of concepts and thoughts with such deceptive "simplicity" in terms of form and language. Yet you also have such deftness in terms of the ways in which your ideas are uniquely applied. I could swing on the trapeze of this one all day! Very classy, very well done. TY Kate xx

this is a conversation held in the privacy of one's own mind, perhaps a dialogue between the conscious and the unconscious, the dark and the light, the good, and that bad. modern conceptions of sanity pale in the reflection of what is truly real, and what is not. a thoughtful and provocative write, poet.

Step Outside (Poetry) - 10/8/2005 11:06:28 AM

Remember Him When (Poetry) - 9/21/2005 2:58:31 PM
Oh Sandy so many questions and very few answers and as I age and my health issues increase I find too often I am asking myself these same questions. Yes I know I will leave behind loved ones but sometimes a man (or woman) aspires to leave behind more perhaps for their loved ones to admire...who knows. I wonder too... Felix

Remember Him When (Poetry) - 9/21/2005 1:15:40 PM
Esoteric questions for those who comply with the dictation of the rulers of the minds that live in slaveyards named "freedom"; A symbolistical composition on the ontological and teleological thoughts. Somewhere In The Middle (Poetry) - 9/20/2005 10:45:21 AM

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/31/2005 9:03:03 AM
what a soulful and poignant rendition of the 'star-crossed lovers' ideal...it's always so sad, isn't it, especially the moment of realization, when poems like this are born. love your imagery and word choice, you said exactly what had to be said, and got out of dodge. admirable.

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/31/2005 1:22:34 AM
People who write from the heart and in what they believe, to me that is real poetry. Thank You.

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/28/2005 1:49:20 PM

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/26/2005 5:54:08 PM
This is a wonderful expression of painting with words. Ah, yes -- knew how to sing.... - Duke

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/24/2005 2:48:18 PM
You always bowl me over with your angles on the way you express just that special "something"! Always in a neat and concise way that is just so precise and yet fits in so cleverly with the image or scenario that you paint. I think in pictures, and it reminds me of shuffling a pack of cards, somehow. You are a craftsman/woman(!!) and I get the sense of you having very acute vision and good spatial awareness - are you an architect or something? Don't mind me.. it's a bit late and I'm taking more than a few tangents of my own! Great thought-processes sharply caught and defined. TY Kate xx

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/20/2005 1:18:26 PM

Innovative poem with a message to us all; sometimes we have no control over the "timing." Good.

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/19/2005 4:16:22 AM
Sandy, Your words sing true, with 'timing is everything,' for unless both are willing and able to work on the relationship, it's simply, not going to work. It's sad, but so many have lost and watched their chance to happiness and love, fade with the light of day. Beautiful work. Lisa

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/19/2005 4:11:40 AM
Reminds me of the parable of the seed that fell on rocky soil, it grew but then died for lack of soil to spread its roots. We don't always know when love will take root but we must have rich soil for it to grow when it does.

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/19/2005 3:44:55 AM
Oh Sandy that is the trouble with love...it is so hit and miss. You wait and wait for the right one then when you give up and settle for second best. Mr/Ms Right seems to always come strollong along. A little sad this one but really well written. Felix

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/19/2005 3:36:22 AM
Sad poetry that I can relate too!! Love Tinka

Another Time (Poetry) - 8/19/2005 12:38:44 AM
This is so sad Sandy. Love found and then lost. I've never had the real love of a man, so I cannot compare, but I can relate to having the love of a mother, and then losing that love to her treachery. Thnx for sharing Sandy. May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, stubborn to a fault, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sad den sister, Barbie "If I have to be this girl in me, Then I may as well be."

hello Sandy, great poeming

I Live (Poetry) - 7/28/2005 5:03:30 AM
I really like this a lot, Sandy. A sobering reminder that we can never judge from the outside what is going on in others' relationships - let alone their heads! Just sorting out our own can be hard enough!! I also like the twist of being reminded that what we might take to be "abuse" of whatever sort may be actually far from the truth, in that the odd difficulty or show of things going awry may do little to undo the previous good that has been shown and sown, given and received. You have subtley crafted a multiplicity of emotions with a dextrous and economic hand - my reviews could learn a lot from your clarity and cleanness! And I like the way you take this head on. Glad to hear that you have your own very inspirational Luz in your household! TY Kate xx

I Live (Poetry) - 7/25/2005 3:26:59 AM

The Cowboy's Eyes (Poetry) - 5/18/2005 10:06:02 AM
"The Cowboy's Eyes" sings the life and depicts the man´s feelings and wise conduct. It is an inspiring poem that makes one´s mind think on "have-and-being", and to aspire to improve the quality of living. Thank You, Poet! Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

Won't Figure It Out If You Try (Poetry) - 5/18/2005 9:47:58 AM
This is a poetic-philosophical flower scented with the aroma of - eternity and now - pleasing the senses of knowledge. "Won't Figure It Out If You Try" is wirtten with golden letters on a platinum frame. Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

Who's That (Poetry) - 5/17/2005 10:17:34 AM
Wise souls are of those that have live memory of their beloved ones. "Who's That" flows from the fountain of gratitude to the lake of love, making waves of grace and foam of sublimity. Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

We'll Miss You Scott (Poetry) - 5/17/2005 10:10:04 AM
Symbolistical, nostalgic, esoteric, surreal romantic-philosophical. "We'll Miss You Scott" sings the mysteries of life. Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

We Don't Want To Play (Poetry) - 5/17/2005 10:01:04 AM
True poetic-social writing on the criminals of our time. The closing lines can be responded by the VATICAN, WORLD COUNCIL OF CHURCHES AND THE UNITED NATIONS´"Five Permanent LORDS, for they are the ENGINEERS OF WAR. "We Don't Want To Play" shows that our Poets are taking stand, and that this is the century of Poetry´s Revelation. Thank You, Poet for warning that we are about to be taken into the slaveyard, unless we say "NO" to those above identified. Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU

Twas The Night After Thanksgiving (Poetry) - 5/17/2005 9:39:57 AM
"Twas The Night After Thanksgiving" is poem that complies with one - of the many Poetry´s missions, - and voices its alertness with its symbolistical imagery. Many messages are entwined through the poetic magnificent lines of "Twas The Night After Thanksgiving", - and all of them - leads the reader´s mind to think on social responsibilities, and strikes a questions: "IF WE DIDN´T ALLOW GIVERNMENT OFFICERS TO VIOLATE THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION; IF WE DIDN´T ALLOW THE US CONGRESS TO ALLOW THE EXECUTIVE POWER TO KEEP ON VIOLATING THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STAES OF AMERICA, would our Government be an OUTLAW ONE?" I salute You, Sublime Poet! Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
